Supporting NOAA's Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, the full-time remote Scientific Technical Editor will review, copy edit, and enhance technical documents for clarity and scientific accuracy while developing writing guidelines and training staff on best practices.
Key responsibilities
Review, copy edit, and improve technical products for plain language and consistent tone
Collaborate with the OAR Communications Director to maintain writing and editing guidelines
Train OAR staff on best practices in writing, editing, and plain language communication
Required qualifications
BA/BS in English, Journalism, a scientific or environmental discipline, or a related field
8+ years of professional and/or academic experience in technical writing or science communications
Expertise in plain language principles and federal guidelines
Experience with web content editing and CMS-based websites
Strong technical literacy across multiple NOAA research disciplines
