Federal Audio Visual (AV) Design Specialist
Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. is seeking a skilled AV Design Specialist to deliver high‑quality audio‑visual system designs for U.S. Federal Government agencies.

Key Responsibilities
Lead audio‑visual system designs and coordinate with other disciplines.
Create conceptual and detailed A/V system designs, including design drawings, specifications, and design analysis deliverables.
Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production.
Perform quality control duties and conduct independent technical reviews.
Manage assigned budgets, scopes, and schedules.
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
May perform fieldwork, write assessment reports, and assist with design guides and templates.
Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of AVIXA, InfoComm, TIA, NEC, NFPA, and applicable federal criteria, standards, and codes.
Strong knowledge of A/V system design from usability, accessibility, safety, and constructability perspectives.
Experience designing displays, projection systems, video walls, conferencing platforms, sound reinforcement, assistive listening, control systems, and signal distribution infrastructure.
Experience developing A/V narratives, one‑line diagrams, equipment layouts, rack elevations, control system requirements, and detailed bill of materials.
8+ years of experience designing applicable audio‑visual systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or sciences (or equivalent professional experience).
Minimum 10 years of related work experience.
U.S. citizenship required; must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements.
Ability to complete required background checks and drug screening.
Certifications
Certified Technology Specialist‑Design (CTS‑D) (preferred).
Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
A/V or manufacturer‑specific certifications (Crestron, Extron, Q‑SYS, Dante, Biamp, etc.).
Compensation Transparency
Colorado: $150,491 – $225,775
Virginia: $177,853 – $266,825
Minnesota: $143,651 – $215,513
