Duties
Serves as the principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary, senior DOL and MSHA officials.
Establishes a regulatory plan and identifies research and data needs to support the rulemaking activities.
Develops recommendations on whether the regulations should be issued and/or revised and prepares regulatory analyses.
Conducts informal public meetings and formal public hearings to gather information and comments on proposed standards and regulations.
Directs and manages the development and writing of draft and final versions of new and revised mine safety and health standards.
Leads staff to creatively complete priority projects within established deadlines.
