Who Are We The mission of the New York City Master Chorale is to connect people through choral music by presenting concerts of the highest caliber, inspired by the distinct energy, diversity, and talent of New York City, while fostering artistic collaboration and building an inclusive member community. The Chorale seeks to engage and inspire audiences across all ages and backgrounds through its commitment to innovative programming from a diverse repertoire, including newly commissioned works and partnerships with artists and organizations who share the choir’s vision, as well as bringing music into the community through our outreach and education programs.
Responsibilities And Scope Capture, create, and post social media content for Instagram Reels, and Stories
Follow and harness trending and culturally relevant content as applicable in real time
Edit short-form videos with strong storytelling and brand and audience awareness
Support and develop content calendars
Draft social media and email newsletter language
Promote and help develop marketing strategy for NYCMC events
Identify potential partnerships with emerging local creators and peer organizations
The Fellow is expected to attend some Chorale events and rehearsals in-person to record content. This will entail occasional attendance at Chorale rehearsals on Wednesday evenings in Midtown Manhattan, 2-3 concert performances per season, and a few other events in the NYC metro area
Candidate Qualities Collaborative, independent, and responsive
Comfort with applicable technology
Love of the performing arts and small, community-driven non-profits
Interested in creating authentic content and further developing brand voicing and identity
Qualifications 1–2 years creating and sharing content for a brand, nonprofit, or personal platform
Strong understanding of Instagram and other social media platforms
Familiarity with MailChimp and Squarespace a plus
Experience in independent content creation work and social media editing
Strong storytelling instincts and commitment to the performing arts
Availability to capture content at certain rehearsals and major events in person
Ability to travel in the NYC metro/tri-state area with advance notice
Compensation This is a contract position, and will be paid via direct bank transfer. The position pays $2k/season (mid-August - mid-May), with an expected average of around 3 hours/work per week. 9-month contact term to start. A 1099 form will be provided to you at the end of the year for tax purposes.
