Social Media and PR Internship

BERNARD JAMES · Multiple locations ·

Job type:
Internship

Social Media & PR Intern
Location: Brooklyn, NY — in-person required

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week | Part-time

Compensation: Monthly stipend + school credit

Fall Internship: September 1 through December 2026

Earlier Start: The selected candidate may have the opportunity to begin during summer 2026, with the potential to continue into January 2027.

About the Role
Bernard James is seeking a highly reliable, detail-oriented Social Media & PR Intern to support our growing communications efforts.

This is a hands‑on position within a small team, not an observational internship. You will be trusted with responsibilities that directly affect how the brand presents itself publicly, from social content planning and execution to PR coordination, events, research, and reporting.

The fall season will be an especially active period for the brand, including retail activations, events, partnership initiatives, and ongoing social and PR campaigns. The right candidate is organized, visually discerning, culturally aware, and comfortable managing assignments independently once trained.

This position is best suited for someone who wants to learn by doing, cares deeply about quality, and understands that consistency and follow‑through are as important as creativity.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Researching cultural moments, platform trends, and visual references to inform social strategy

Managing and maintaining the social content calendar

Scheduling posts and engaging thoughtfully with our online community

Assisting with regular content capture and basic photo and video editing

Supporting monthly social performance reporting and identifying key insights

Coordinating PR pulls, including tracking, packing, shipping, and processing returns of fine jewelry

Logging press coverage and maintaining organized media clippings

Supporting influencer gifting, outreach, and follow‑up

Assisting with events, retail activations, and in‑store programming

Supporting our publicist with campaign execution, media research, and press‑related logistics

Researching potential partnerships and collaborations aligned with the brand

Helping maintain organized communications, project trackers, and shared files

This Role Is a Good Fit If You

Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Fashion, or a related field

Are highly organized, dependable, and attentive to deadlines

Have strong written communication skills and a sharp eye for visual consistency

Are fluent in Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok and curious about emerging platforms

Are comfortable capturing and editing basic photo and video content

Can work independently, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of assignments

Care about getting details right, particularly when handling valuable products

Are interested in fashion, design, culture, communications, or luxury

Are comfortable working in person and supporting events when needed

Prior jewelry experience is not required.

This Role Is Not a Fit If You

Are looking for a passive, observational, or portfolio‑only internship

Need constant oversight to complete assignments

Are uncomfortable with structure, logistics, or responsibility

Are primarily interested in building your personal platform rather than contributing to a brand

Are unable to work consistently in person in Brooklyn
