We are looking for a highly skilled Business Development Manager to support strategic business development initiatives and cross‑functional collaboration across departments. This role represents Discovery Education externally and collaborates frequently with senior leadership and external partners. The ideal candidate thrives in a high‑energy, purpose‑driven environment and connects strategy across departments to drive revenue and impact.
Responsibilities
Generate revenue opportunities through highly tailored outreach strategies, focusing on volume of opportunities for the Corporate Partnerships new bookings team.
Work closely with Sales leaders to support industry coverage.
Target companies with financial potential to partner with Discovery Education’s Corporate Partnerships team for Signature, Coalition, Career Connect, and underwriting opportunities.
Travel for conferences and meetings that generate leads for the New Bookings pipeline.
Proactively engage senior leadership to develop cultivation strategies for prospecting.
Coordinate outreach efforts and support meeting coordination and follow‑up for senior leadership.
Manage relationships with Discovery Education’s Strategic Alliance partners.
Lead relationships with key Strategic Alliance partnerships to activate lead generation opportunities such as event series and speaking opportunities.
Collaborate with CEP Growth Marketing to capitalize on Strategic Alliance partner opportunities.
Collaborate with K12 Sales and Marketing to identify new markets and opportunities for Discovery Education Campaigns team.
Serve as a liaison between Corporate Education Partnerships and K12 departments for brand events such as Futures Fair and Career Connect Spotlights.
Research industry news, company giving data, and CSR trends to inform strategy.
Source new partner organizations aligned with Discovery Education’s mission.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in marketing and business development.
Experience managing strategic partnerships.
Proficiency in Asana or similar project management tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 50% or as needed by the business.
Legal right to work in the United States.
Location and Compensation
Hybrid in Charlotte, NC or remote; may work out of Washington, D.C. Salary range: $87,850 – $97,600 annually, plus variable target.
