The Managing Director – Business Development and Capital Formation is responsible for leading all private capital raising efforts for the firm, including the development and management of relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, registered investment advisors (RIAs), and institutional investors. This person will be the primary point of contact for prospective and existing investors and will play a critical role in the growth and success of the firm's funds.
Role Responsibilities
Capital Formation & Investor Development
Lead the firm's capital raising efforts by identifying, cultivating, and securing investments from family offices, high-net-worth individuals, registered investment advisors, private wealth platforms, institutional investors, and strategic capital partners.
Manage the full fundraising lifecycle, including investor sourcing, qualification, due diligence, negotiations, and successful closing of commitments.
Expand and strengthen the firm's network of capital providers while building long-term relationships that support future initiative
Represent the company at industry conferences, investor events, and networking opportunities to enhance market visibility and generate new investment opportunities.
Investor Relations & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary relationship manager for existing investors and capital partners, ensuring exceptional communication and engagement throughout the investment lifecycle.
Deliver timely and transparent updates regarding portfolio performance, development progress, market conditions, and investment results.
Develop trusted advisor relationships with investors while identifying opportunities for additional investment participation and strategic partnerships.
Business Development & Market Expansion
Drive strategic business development initiatives that expand the firm's investor base, strategic partnerships, and market presence.
Identify emerging capital sources, market opportunities, and industry trends that support the company's growth and expansion plans.
Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate new investment structures, capital solutions, and fundraising strategies.
Provide insights on investor preferences, market demand, competitive positioning, and capital allocation trends to inform business strategy.
Marketing & Investor Communications
Oversee the creation and continuous enhancement of investor-facing materials, including presentations, private placement memorandums, offering documents, due diligence materials, and marketing collateral.
Ensure all communications effectively articulate the firm's investment strategy, development expertise, track record, and value proposition.
Maintain investor relationship management systems and fundraising pipelines, providing accurate forecasting and reporting on capital formation activities.
Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to corporate strategy, capital planning, and long-term growth initiatives.
Provide market intelligence on real estate capital markets, investor sentiment, fundraising trends, and competitive activity.
Experience and Skills
Experience with capital markets/managing and raising cap
ital10+ years of experience in private real estate capital formation, institutional sales, investment banking, or financial services preferred
Understanding of private real estate strategies, fund structures, and institutional portfolio construction preferred
Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted senior partner to investment teams and CIO‑level clients
Strong commercial judgment, executive presence, and ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity
A track record of designing, documenting, and implementing new processes and systems
Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Proficient at utilizing technology including Microsoft Excel and AI
