General Description


SUNY Niagara has a need for a part-time instructor to teach a Public Relations course in our Communication Studies department. In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates, applications will be evaluated on an as‑needed basis. Candidates may or may not be notified of their application status.


Responsibilities



  • Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon.

  • Track attendance as needed.

  • Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester.

  • Report grades at the conclusion of the semester.


Essential Functions



  • Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population.

  • Ability to speak in front of groups of people.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co‑workers, supervisors, and the campus community.

  • Must be able to develop, prepare and present information.

  • Must be able to operate computers.

  • Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, or related field.

  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge and experience (educational and/or professional) in the public relations field.


Desirable Qualifications



  • Master’s degree or terminal degree in Communication, Public Relations, or related area.

  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge of the public relations field and experience administering public relations campaigns.

  • Experience teaching college-level courses.

  • Experience with instructional technology and teaching in virtual formats.
