Position Overview
The

3D Modeler & Texture Artist

is responsible for creating high-quality 3D models and textures for use in game development, including characters, environments, and props.
This role ensures that assets are visually compelling, optimized, and compatible with Unity or other game engines.
Operating at the intersection of

3D modeling, texturing, and real-time asset optimization , this role is critical to delivering immersive and visually engaging game experiences.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling

Create 3D models using Blender, including:
Characters
Environments
Props
Ensure models are clean, accurate, and production-ready

Texturing & Materials

Develop textures and materials for models
Apply UV mapping and texture workflows
Ensure visual consistency across assets

Game Asset Optimization

Optimize models for real-time performance, including:
Polygon count
Topology
Texture sizes
Ensure assets are efficient for game engines

Asset Integration Support

Prepare assets for use in Unity or similar engines
Ensure compatibility with:
Lighting
Shaders
Animation systems (if applicable)

Collaboration with Art & Development Teams

Work with:
Technical artists
Developers
Designers
Ensure assets meet technical and gameplay requirements

Style Consistency & Quality Control

Follow established art direction and style guides
Maintain consistency across all assets
Ensure high visual quality

Iteration & Feedback

Revise models based on feedback
Improve assets through iteration
Adapt to changing project needs

Asset Organization & Documentation

Maintain organized asset files
Follow naming conventions and workflows
Document asset requirements as needed

Problem-Solving & Constraints

Adjust assets based on:
Technical limitations
Performance requirements
Balance visual quality with efficiency

Continuous Improvement

Improve modeling and texturing techniques
Stay current with industry tools and practices
Enhance overall asset quality

Volunteer Commitment Expectations
Estimated Commitment:

10-15 hours per week
Flexible schedule
Participation in art and development meetings required
Fully remote

Minimum Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in:
3D modeling
Texturing
Strong skills in:
Blender
Understanding of:
UV mapping
Basic texturing workflows

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
Game asset pipelines
Unity or other game engines
Experience in collaborative or remote teams
Experience creating assets for games (indie or academic)
