About the Role

NowThis is seeking an experienced Freelance Videographer/ Editor to join our Studio team in Los Angeles. This role owns the end-to-end production process, capturing and editing compelling digital content from pre-production through final delivery. The ideal candidate is an experienced Videographer/Editor with strong camera, lighting, and post-production skills who can capture compelling content and deliver polished edits on tight deadlines.

What You'll Do

  • Operate cameras, lighting, audio, and other production equipment in both studio and field environments.
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Development, Branded Content, Design, and Production teams throughout pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Edit social-first videos on tight deadlines, incorporating graphics, archival footage, animation, sound design, color correction, and platform-specific exports.
  • Manage media ingestion, organization, transcoding, backups, and post-production workflows to ensure efficient project delivery and seamless handoffs.
  • Create compelling thumbnails and optimize final deliverables for distribution across multiple social platforms.
  • Maintain studio spaces, production equipment, and equipment reservation systems while troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
  • Support production operations by coordinating footage transfers, production logistics, equipment needs, and shoot preparation.
  • Stay current on production technologies, editing techniques, and social media trends to continually elevate the quality of NowThis content.
  • Occasionally work evenings or weekends based on production schedules, as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional videography and editing experience, preferably producing social-first content within digital media.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, After Effects, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Strong technical knowledge of video formats, codecs, media management, and post-production workflows.
  • Experience operating professional mirrorless cinema cameras (Sony a7S series preferred), wireless audio systems, studio and natural lighting setups, and professional audio capture equipment.
  • Experience shooting interviews, portrait photography, and content in both studio and field environments.
  • Ability to compose and capture content for multiple aspect ratios (16:9, 9:16, 4:5).
  • Excellent visual storytelling skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative, proactive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Familiarity with NowThis editorial style, voice, and production standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Motion graphics experience using Adobe After Effects.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with cloud-based production and collaboration workflows.
  • Experience creating content optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat, and other vertical video platforms.

Compensation

Compensation for this freelance position ranges from $1,500–$1,700 per week. Placement within this range is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, project scope, contractual agreements, and business needs.
