Reporting to the Creative Director, the Graphic Designer conceptualizes, designs and executes compelling digital and print assets to support the needs of the marketing team as well as both internal and external clients. This position requires an individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines, while maintaining creative focus, quality of work, professionalism, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
The Graphic Designer will be involved in conceptualizing and executing new creative for projects including:
Print and online advertising
Websites and landing pages
User interface and app design
E-mail campaigns
Social media graphics
Direct mail
Brochures and print collateral
Print magazines
Trade show banners, displays and swag
E-books and digital publications
Videos, webinars and presentations
Other traditional and digital marketing collateral as directed
Additional hours (over 40/week) as needed to meet deadlines, and periodic travel to set up and work designated industry events are required of this role.
Areas of Responsibility

Internal Marketing Projects

Works with the Creative Director and other internal stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and develop marketing communications and sales collateral as needed to promote the company and its products/services, providing graphic design and layout for marketing assets such as: brochures, direct mail, ebooks and digital publications, presentations, reports, flyers, etc. This includes producing both monthly and yearly recurring projects.
Supports the creative needs of the content marketing and editorial team by designing graphics and pulling photos from our server for the blogs, email newsletters, and other content marketing initiatives as needed, including the design of infographics and other visual elements.
Provides design support for the company's event and trade show marketing activities, by developing/producing layouts and artwork for banners, trade show displays, banner stands, and swag/prizes, ensuring that all artwork created adheres to the production requirements of the third-party vendor producing/printing the project.
Works with the Creative Director and customer service team to provide design and artwork support for projects such as customer gifts, special promotions, etc.
Assists the Marketing Specialist position by providing artwork for social media posts, email marketing projects, and other initiatives as needed.
Works with the Vice President of Marketing to provide artwork and photo assets needed for the development of the company's websites.
Provides creative input for website design and development projects for the company's WordPress websites and blogs, including the updating and maintenance of content and visual elements as directed.
Creates and modifies artwork as needed including logos, illustrations, photo retouching and compositing, charts, graphs, etc.
Coordinates printing, mailing, and shipping of marketing deliverables with our printers— producing high-quality, print-ready artwork that meets the production requirements provided by the printer, ensures the finished product produced by the printer meets our quality expectations, gets mailed on schedule, and arrives at industry events for
distribution on time.
Creative Services for External Clients

Works with the Creative Director and other stakeholders to conceptualize, plan and implement marketing campaigns for external clients. May occasionally be asked to participate in conference calls with external clients for creative brainstorming and project planning purposes.
Works with the Creative Director and other internal stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and develop magazine publications, both in print and digital—producing cutting‑edge, professional layouts that adhere to professional publication design standards and the overall brand image of the client. And works with the editorial team to obtain content and images for each issue supplementing with stock photography as needed.
Develops concept designs and finished artwork for all projects for external clients such as: brochures, direct mail, flyers, etc. And responds to client revisions in a timely and professional manner.
Works with advertisers to inspect artwork they submit for compliance with our production requirements, answers questions and provides guidance to advertisers as needed to help them submit the required artwork, and communicates with advertisers when artwork they submit does not comply with our production requirements, coaching them on how to fix the problems with their art.
Designs, develops, and maintains WordPress websites for external clients as directed, including the updating and maintenance of content and visual elements as requested by the client.
Provides image and artwork in support of social media and email marketing campaigns for external clients.
Prepares proofs (with proof approval forms) of all marketing assets developed for external clients for approval, and retains signed approval forms with the original project files for our records.
Tracks time spent on client projects for billing purposes as directed.
General Project Management

Carefully reads all project instructions to gain a complete understanding of the specifications, requirements and requests for each project before commencing work.
Works with members of our customer service, management, and editorial teams to keep our library of customer‑supplied photographs restocked with fresh photos, and credits the customer who supplied them when used (in any media).
Takes ownership of project deadlines and self‑regulates workflow to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Keeps projects, source material, and creative resources organized, and maintains organized records for each project so another team member is able to find, understand, and work on the project in the event the Graphic Designer is ill or on vacation.
Assists with design proofing and quality control of the visual elements of all marketing projects for both internal and external clients, making sure they are correct, complete, fulfill the original project specifications and requirements, and adhere to brand standards. Double‑checks all work produced against the original instructions for the project, spell‑checks content and reviews for accuracy, and submits to the Creative Director for final review before sending the proof to the project stakeholders for final production approval.
Works with printers, sign companies, and other third‑party vendors to prepare art for print, adhering to necessary production specifications, ensuring the finished product meets the highest standards of quality, and manages production deadlines.
Keeps assigned tasks in the company's current project management software up to date, paying careful attention to project deadlines.
Follows departmental guidelines for project file names and asset organization for each project on our internal server.
Maintains personal accessibility and availability via phone, email, and Slack during employee's designated work hours.
Creative Initiative & Strategy

Assists in establishing and maintaining professional graphic and identity standards for the organizations’ communications.
Collaborates with senior leadership as needed for branding and marketing initiatives.
Research, develop and present concept designs and ideas to senior leadership to improve the company's brand image and marketing assets.
Suggests design improvements for all deliverables, and ways to improve production efficiency without sacrificing quality.
Sets an example for other team members by adhering to company policies, showing up to work on time, demonstrating professional conduct, and respecting the company's time and resources.
Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of current design trends and best practices.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 3-5 years of multi‑disciplined, hands‑on design experience including print, digital, and web design.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent field.
Exceptional conceptual thinking, design and creative problem‑solving skills.
High degree of expertise and proficiency in Macintosh computer systems, Adobe Creative Cloud, WordPress, Mailchimp, MS Office, Google Apps, and other marketing software for a variety of graphic design and production activities including layout, production, illustration, and file preparation.
Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional flexibility while dealing with complex projects, shifting priorities, and multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Unbounce, and WordPress.
Strong understanding of design principles for both print and digital media, including familiarity with the printing and proofing process.
Able to conceptualize designs in multiple media types, including print, digital, photos, graphics and video.
Comfortable managing multiple, complex projects, balancing priorities and communicating with various stakeholders from concept to completion.
Ability to travel to the corporate office and industry conferences and events approximately 6‑10 times annually for periods of 3‑5 days (subject to travel restrictions and public health guidelines); the ability to lift and move 75 lbs; and the ability to move about event venues, assemble trade show displays, work the organization’s trade show booth for extended periods of time, and interact with current and prospective customers to identify market opportunities are essential functions required of this role.
Desire to continually learn and innovate.
From time to time, the graphic designer may need to work hours that aren’t typical, so a flexible approach is needed to be a good fit for this position.
