The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the state’s general fund. Our mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retailer compensation.
In fiscal year 2023-24, the California Lottery provided over $2 billion in supplemental funding for California public schools, bringing the total contributions to more than $46 billion since we began in 1985. Lottery products are sold at more than 23,000 retail locations throughout the state. Product offerings include an average of 52 fun and entertaining Scratchers games and several draw games such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and SuperLotto Plus and daily games such as Fantasy 5 and Hot Spot.
Job Description and Duties:
Under the direction of the Key Accounts Manager, the Key Accounts Specialist builds and manages relationships with key accounts to secure Lottery retail partnerships and acts as a liaison with retail organizations. They recruit potential accounts, promote Lottery products, and work with top executives in large retail chains to boost sales. The Key Accounts Specialist will conduct presentations and training for new games, coordinate marketing and special promotional programs, and communicate Lottery strategies and policies to executives. They will also establish and monitor agreements with retailers, analyze sales performance, resolve account issues, consult with managers, set sales goals, and prepare reports to track sales and trends.

This position is headquartered at the San Diego District Office. This position is not eligible for telework.

Working Conditions
a. Schedule: Monday through Friday - Typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
b. Travel: Assigned district travel (driving) to prospect and retail locations is required.
c. Other: Overtime and/or travel (including statewide overnight travel) may be required.
Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing, including experience delivering compelling proposals, reports, and status updates to various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills that drive productivity and create sales opportunities.
Strong analytical skills. Solid understanding of sales tracking metrics, with the ability to generate, analyze and interpret data.
Comprehensive knowledge and professional command of the sales process.
Experience using technology (including smartphones, tablets, and computers) to facilitate sales in-office and out in the field.
Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and Teams.
A background in marketing and advertising; lottery, gaming, entertainment, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) preferred.
Bilingual skills are desirable but not required.
