As we expand our footprint, we are seeking a motivated, charismatic, and goal-oriented Business Development & Partnerships Intern to lead our first-line outreach to local businesses, venues, and event organizers this Fall.
Role Overview
Role Title: Business Development & Strategic Partnerships Intern
Duration: 3 Months (Fall Semester; Open to extension or potential commission/paid transition based on performance)
Type: Part-time / Unpaid (High-impact B2B experience + Performance incentives + Academic credit)
Time Commitment: 15–20 hours/week (Flexible schedule; Remote + Local partner visits)
Key Responsibilities:
Partner Identification & Prospecting: Research and curate a target list of local businesses, venues, community leaders, and event organizers that align with OMI's target audience.
First-Line Outreach & Engagement: Draft cold emails, manage direct outreach via social/LinkedIn, and conduct in-person drop-ins to initiate first contacts with potential partners.
Pitching & Relationship Building: Pitch OMI’s value proposition to decision-makers, highlight win‑win collaboration opportunities, and schedule follow‑up meetings for team leaders.
Pipeline Management: Track outreach progress, responses, and meeting notes in a shared CRM/tracker to ensure structured and professional follow‑ups.
Weekly Strategy Sync: Participate in a mandatory 20‑minute weekly sync to review outreach metrics, refine pitch scripts, and optimize partner acquisition tactics.
Qualifications:
Education: Current Junior, Senior, or Master’s student majoring in Business, Marketing, Sales, Communications, or Entrepreneurship.
Relentless & Resilient: Comfortable with cold outreach and not discouraged by rejections. Sees every "no" as a step closer to a "yes".
Exceptional Communication: Clear, persuasive, and professional in both written correspondence and verbal conversations.
Self-Driven & Professional: Takes ownership of prospect research without employers constant hand-holding; respects team timelines, meeting times, and agreed goals.
Local Market Knowledge: Passionate about local events, food, culture, and community scenes in the area.
