The Creative Director, Social & Content is the executor of the brand's creative output. This role takes direction, develops it into distinct creative territories, builds the selected direction into a durable system, and then produces the full body of work that flows from it. Social content, trade collateral, point-of-sale, campaign creative, event design, merchandise, and email all originate here.
The role operates downstream of brand strategy and upstream of everything the market sees. Where the Director of Brand & Digital Marketing owns marketing strategy, channel performance, media buying, and reporting, the Creative Director owns the creative system and the assets themselves translating an agreed brand architecture into an unlimited, consistent supply of executed work.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to [Founder & CMO / Director of Brand & Digital Marketing]: The Creative Director owns creative execution against the brand platform and marketing priorities set at the leadership level, operating with significant autonomy over craft, visual system, and production approach.
Operational alignment with [Director of Brand & Digital Marketing]: The Creative Director produces the creative that populates every channel — paid and geofenced media, email, web, and social — while channel strategy, budget, buying, and performance reporting sit with marketing leadership.
Operational alignment with (CSO & COO) and the sales organization: The Creative Director ensures trade and retail creative meets the real needs of the field across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and that production files meet supplier and printer specifications on time.
PILLAR 1: CREATIVE & SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
Territory Development: Take a mood board, reference set, or strategic direction and develop multiple distinct creative territories, each with an articulated rationale, so leadership can make an informed selection rather than react to a single option.
System Construction: Build the selected direction into a complete and durable creative system — typography, color, motion behavior, photographic language, compositional rules, and verbal tone — documented clearly enough that every subsequent asset derives from it.
System Extension: Apply and evolve the system across every surface the brand touches, ensuring the work reads as one coherent brand whether it appears on a phone, a shelf, a bar top, or a distributor's desk.
AI-Enabled Creative: Use AI creative tools for rapid territory exploration, mood boarding, texture and environment studies, and pre-visualization, then translate concepts into human-refined, legally clean production files.
PILLAR 2: DESIGN & PRODUCTION
Trade & Commercial Collateral: Design distributor sell sheets, one-pagers, brand books, case cards, shelf talkers, point-of-sale, bar and menu pieces, and trade show and event graphics for all active markets. PILLAR 2: DESIGN & PRODUCTION
Digital & Campaign Assets: Design social graphics and reusable templates, email layouts, website and Shopify assets, merchandise and capsule artwork, and creative for paid, programmatic, and geofenced campaigns.
Photography & Video: Shoot and edit product, lifestyle, and cocktail content across stills and video, running shoots independently or directing contracted talent as scope requires.
Short-Form Video Editing: Cut platform-native video for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube, including motion graphics, typographic treatment, sound, and captioning.
Packaging & Print Support: Support label, packaging, and print production files as the SKU range extends, working directly with printers and suppliers on dielines, materials, color, and finish.
Copywriting: Write the language that carries the work — captions, headlines, sell sheet body copy, email, and campaign lines — in the brand's established voice.
PILLAR 3: SOCIAL, COMMUNITY & ACTIVATION
Social Creative Ownership: Own the look, feel, and voice of everything Chay publishes, ensuring each piece is built for the platform it lives on rather than adapted after the fact.
Content Calendar: Maintain a running content calendar and production pipeline that sustains consistent output across platforms without sacrificing craft.
Community & Engagement: Represent the brand voice in audience interaction, and create the content and creative identity that supports creator, ambassador, and bartender relationships.
Cultural Responsiveness: Translate cultural and category moments into brand-native content quickly, without diluting the visual system or the brand's core story.
Activation Design: Shape the look and feel of tastings, events, retail activations, and on-premise moments, producing the physical and digital assets that bring them to life.
Compliance: Ensure all creative meets alcohol marketing standards, including TTB and DISCUS guidelines, platform age-gating requirements, and state-level restrictions across all active markets.
PILLAR 4: PRODUCTION OPERATIONS
Asset Library Management: Maintain an organized, accessible library of production-ready and market-ready assets so sales and leadership can retrieve current materials without routing every request through creative.
Supplier & Printer Hand-Off: Deliver technically correct production files and specification documents to manufacturers and printers.
Template Systems: Build reusable templates and modular design systems that allow high-volume output and, where appropriate, safe self-service by non-designers.
AI Production Workflow: Integrate AI tooling into the production pipeline so a single-person creative function can produce at the volume of a larger team.
KEY DELIVERABLES
Creative Territories & Selected Direction: Multiple developed creative territories presented with rationale, and the selected direction built out for approval.
Brand Creative System: Documented visual and verbal system — typography, color, motion, photographic direction, and compositional rules — that all executions derive from.
Commercial Creative Library: Current sell sheets, POS assets, case cards, distributor materials, and launch kits for every active market.
Social Content Program: A running content calendar with consistent, platform-native output across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
Campaign Creative Packages: Complete asset sets for paid, geofenced, email, and web campaigns, sized and formatted per channel.
Production Master Library: A clean, organized archive of final assets in industry-standard formats (AI, SVG, PSD, INDD, PNG, MP4).
Supplier-Ready Production Files: Print and packaging files meeting manufacturer specification, with dielines, bleeds, and color modes correct.
Usage Rights Documentation: Confirmation that all delivered assets are original, human-refined, and legally cleared.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
5-8 years in brand, social, or content creative, with substantial time as the primary maker rather than a supervisor of makers
Portfolio demonstrating the full arc from concept to system to executed asset, ideally including work where the candidate developed the direction and then built everything from it
Deep command of Adobe Creative Cloud — Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and After Effects; Figma a plus
Print production literacy: bleeds, color modes, dielines, spec sheets, and direct working relationships with printers
Strong photography and video editing capability, sufficient to run a shoot independently
Confident short-form writer
Hands-on social content production experience, having personally created and published rather than only directed agencies
Fluent with AI creative tools for content and production acceleration, with work to show for it
