Westway Baptist Church, a loving and welcoming congregation in Houston, TX, is seeking a Part-Time Music Ministry Leader to join us in worship and ministry. Our mission is to glorify God and grow His kingdom by leading His people in worship through music.
About Us

We are a warm and caring church family, averaging 125 in weekly attendance. We are focused on reaching our community for Christ, and as such we have a very diverse congregation. Our congregation leans toward a traditional style of worship, with a strong love for hymns, while also embracing a growing blend of contemporary music. We desire to balance both styles in a way that glorifies God and engages the church in meaningful worship.
We are blessed with a talented church organist and pianist who serve faithfully each week. Our previous music minister also directed a choir, and while choir leadership is not a requirement, we would welcome someone with the ability and desire to direct a choir in the future.
Responsibilities

Lead the music portion of worship services on

Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings .

Work closely with the media manager / sound crew to refine quality of the sound system.
Collaborate with the pastors to plan Christ-centered worship services.

Blend of songs to serve the diverse worship needs of the congregation. Most of our current songs heavily skew towards traditional hymns, but we also enjoy modern hymns and contemporary songs (In Christ Alone, Give Me Jesus, God Will Make a Way, etc).

Provide leadership and encouragement to volunteer musicians, choir members, and the congregation.

Ensure compliance with copyright laws pertaining to selected media and materials.
Qualifications

A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a heart for worship and ministry.

Musical ability to lead congregational singing (vocal and/or instrumental).

Ability to blend traditional hymns with contemporary worship songs.

Strong interpersonal skills to work with musicians and the congregation.

Experience in choir directing is a plus, but not required.

Position Details

Part-time

role (approximately 6–10 hours per week).

Compensation based on experience.

Reports to the Pastor.
