Job Overview:
The Sr. Designer will support program initiatives by creating innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. This position works closely with engineering teams, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to define design specifications and ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
This is an
onsite-only
role.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop highly innovative design concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for both existing product lines and new product development programs.
Create complex design layouts, schematics, and sketches-including test plans, procedures, and specifications-to meet system and integration requirements within cost and producibility constraints.
Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent ASME standards.
Review and check completed layouts, drawings, test plans, test reports, procedures, and change history documentation (e.g., engineering change notices) for clarity, completeness, and conformance to engineering, military, and industrial standards.
Ensure CAD models can easily transition to modeling and simulation software.
Evaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and viability of design, appropriateness of tolerances, fits, finishes, and materials.
Coordinate closely with systems engineers to ensure designs meet contractual requirements.
Provide expert technical consultation relative to comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of design.
Assist engineers in defining design standards and configurations.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of
9 years of design/drafting experience
using Pro-E/Creo CAD systems.
Proficient in
tolerance analysis
and
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Proficient in 3D modeling and manipulation of files using CAD equipment and drafting techniques.
Current Creo 9 experience required.
Knowledge of Model Based Definition (MBD) is a
huge plus.
Comprehensive knowledge of:
Military drawings, specifications, and applicable MILSPEC/STD's
Product lines at component, subsystem, and system levels
Production methods and understanding of human factors
Education and Experience:
Associate Degree with emphasis in engineering drafting/design,
or
equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum of
nine additional years
drafting and design experience, including
five years
working with advanced design concepts and applications.
