The Fairfield Y is seeking a

Dance Instructor

to lead advanced dance classes, mentor students, and choreograph performances. This role involves instructing individuals and groups in various dance styles, fostering student growth, and preparing dancers for recitals and community performances. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a passion for teaching, and the ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute effective lesson plans for diverse student abilities.
Monitor student progress and set achievable performance goals.
Communicate with students and parents to ensure a positive learning experience.
Manage class logistics, including attendance, announcements, and studio setup/cleanup.
Organize and participate in special dance events, workshops, and performances.
Select appropriate music and choreography for various age groups and dance styles.
Maintain a professional demeanor and represent the YMCA's mission and values.
Collaborate with staff and attend meetings as needed.
Requirements

Minimum

5 years

of dance teaching experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current

CPR, AED, and First Aid certification

(or willingness to obtain).
Strong background in multiple dance styles and techniques.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities.
Experience working with diverse age groups and skill levels.
Knowledge of YMCA programs and nonprofit operations is a plus.
Flexible schedule availability.
