We have openings in various departments and locations across Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
Responsibilities:
The role is designed to be the Medical Assistant in a surgical clinic setting serving as the primary clinician working alongside the office physician or advanced practice provider.
Performs patient assessment to include history, chief complaint, vital signs, medications and allergies. Documents findings in EMR.
The position coordinates the schedule and patient placement in the clinic based on need, assisting with procedures, and preparing patients for examination
Instructs patients about medication and special diets, preparing, and administering medication as directed, wound care and dressing changes as needed
Triages patients and responds to patient calls by end of business day. Documents all interactions in EMR.
Explains treatment to patients, prepares patients for examinations, and assists the provider during examinations or in office procedures.
Collects and prepares laboratory specimens as needed
Transmits prescription refills as directed
Performs administrative duties as needed, completing insurance forms, scheduling appointments and handling correspondence; arranges and schedules hospital admissions and other ancillary services and referrals to other providers
Conducts preauthorization work and obtains appropriate certifications
Serves as a patient liaison with the providers
Directs or maintains the follow-up with patients or family members who have questions about care and uses judgment and problem solving to address their needs as a representative of the provider,
Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean and stocked. Monitors inventory and notifies manager of supply needs.
Follow protocols for instrument cleaning and storage.
Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
Regular and prompt attendance
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
Related duties as assigned
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, 3 years of patient related experience, and completion of a Medical Assistant or related healthcare training program Required
BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
