Senior UI/UX Designer

Aperio Global is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to support a mission-focused customer in McLean, VA. In this role, you'll design intuitive, user-centered experiences for mission-critical applications while collaborating with engineers, product teams, and end users. The ideal candidate has experience conducting UX research, creating modern user interfaces, and transforming complex workflows into intuitive digital experiences.
Job Responsibilities/Qualifications:
Conduct user research through interviews, usability testing, and stakeholder engagement to understand user needs and improve application usability.
Create personas, user journeys, workflow maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity user interface designs.
Develop and maintain scalable design systems and UI standards across multiple applications.
Collaborate with software engineers and product teams to deliver accessible, user-centered solutions.
Ensure designs comply with accessibility standards (WCAG) and established design best practices.
Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 7 years with a Master's degree, or 6 years with a Doctorate.
Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, or similar design and prototyping tools.
Experience presenting UX research findings and design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work onsite full-time in McLean, VA.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting Intelligence Community or other mission-critical government programs.
Portfolio demonstrating UX research and UI design expertise.
Experience with design systems, component-based development, and accessibility best practices.
Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and data-intensive applications.
Work Location: McLean, VA (Onsite)
Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
Salary Range: 160-200k
The salary range for this role represents Aperio's good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Placement within the range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to an individual's qualifications, relevant experience, education, certifications, technical skills, contract labor categories and/or rates, work location, market conditions, and business needs.
