The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Community Relations Responsibilities

Promotes opportunities for people with disabilities to successfully participate in our communities by seeking, creating and maintaining connections with organizations and businesses within Marshall and the surrounding communities to partner with CHS in providing opportunities for individuals supported in the program.

Supports the Saline County Activity Center in communicating with the public, families and individuals served, and staff (Newsletters, Facebook/Newspaper articles/photos, Newslink information, or other items as directed).

Represents the organization at public, social and business events, including participating as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Gives presentations about our programs and agency to businesses and organizations for community awareness/educational purposes and to create new partnerships and support.

Arranges for and supports interviews and/or other media opportunities in Saline County.

Provides and develops appropriate press and background materials when needed or as directed.

Writes articles and stories related to the Saline County Activity Center that center around the CHS mission, vision and values.

Plans and assists in developing marketing materials, newsletters, and media information in coordination with the CHS Communications Coordinator.

Builds relationships with internal and external customers, individuals, family members and staff.

Collaborates with CHS Communications Coordinator to establish an e-mail and social media presence in Saline County.

Maintains database of contacts.

Activity Center Direct Program Responsibilities

Promotes and implements a positive organizational culture, encouraging creativity and enthusiasm among staff and individuals served.

In collaboration with the Activity Center Program Coordinator, will be responsible for developing the weekly/monthly Activity Calendar for individuals served--based on the interests of individuals while fully utilizing community connections possible to provide a wide variety of opportunities. Will coordinate vehicles, program's supplies needed and staffing ratio requirements with Program Coordinator and Support Specialist to assure everything is in place for activities to be successful.

Regularly meets with individuals served (at least quarterly) to solicit input on improving our programs and discussion of interests and ideas. Maintains a spreadsheet of issues generated from these discussions and progress toward addressing any issues identified.

Assists in supervision of Social/Leisure activities outside of the regular program hours when scheduled.Assists Program Director, Program Manager and Program Coordinator with projects and other tasks as requested or assigned.

Other duties as assigned by Manager or Director.

Develops professional and personal competencies

Develops working knowledge of Medicaid Waiver, CARF and DMH regulations related to the operation Day Services, CST, and ISL programs.

Learns and embraces the agency, department, and program philosophy.

Works with the Community Living team to develop knowledge of changes in policies, practices, and personnel in the communities, and institutions as well as on a State and National level.

Works with the Community Living team to build knowledge of local, state, and national information necessary to carry out the goals of the agency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university, plus three years of related work experience or combination of education and experience to equal seven years.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required for this position.

Must have a valid driver's license at the time of application and obtain a Class E Chauffeur's License within 30 days of hire.

Must have driver's insurance and if the name does not appear on your driver's insurance, you must provide the proper documentation, or letter, as proof of insurance.

Must obtain and maintain certifications as listed for this position in HRD-P-022 - Training.

Must be screened for TB by Primary Care Physician prior to start.
