Job Description
The Enterprise Writer and Editor plays a crucial role in creating, editing, managing and disseminating high-quality content that supports the academic health system’s mission, vision and strategic goals. This position requires a versatile professional skilled in both writing and editing, able to craft compelling, informative and compassionate content across a variety of formats and platforms.

This role is responsible for ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with the enterprise brand voice across all content. The position also requires familiarity with AI tools and emerging workflows to improve efficiency, scale content production and support innovation across the communications function.

Key Responsibilities

Content creation: 50%

Develop and write strategic, clear, concise and engaging content for MUSC Catalyst News and other enterprise channels

Pitch story ideas and produce assigned stories while managing multiple projects

Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to gather accurate information

Editorial management: 25%

Edit, proofread and refine content produced by internal teams and contributors to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency

Ensure all content aligns with enterprise brand voice, tone and editorial standards

Provide constructive editorial feedback to improve quality across platforms

Coach contributors on writing and editing best practices to elevate enterprise content quality

Tools and platforms: 20%

Assist with content publishing and coordination with digital and creative teams through our web platform Sitecore

Use AI tools to draft, edit, summarize and optimize content workflows

Identify opportunities to streamline processes and automate repetitive tasks

Support the development of AI-enabled workflows to improve turnaround time and scalability

Analyze content performance and refine strategies based on insights

Other duties as assigned: 5%

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or a related field (advanced degree preferred)

Minimum of ten years of professional writing experience

Demonstrated experience in both writing and editing in a fast-paced environment

Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail

Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible language

Experience using AI tools for writing, editing or workflow optimization

Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and integrate them into daily work

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders

Knowledge of healthcare or academic environments is preferred
