On Cue Hire is seeking a News & Podcast Production Assistant
to join a leading national television news organization in Washington, DC. This hybrid role supports both daily television news production and political podcast operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, passionate about current events and politics, and thrives in a fast-paced newsroom where priorities can change quickly.
Summary
The News & Podcast Production Assistant provides production, administrative, and logistical support across live television broadcasts and political podcast programming. This individual will assist producers with newsroom operations, breaking news coverage, podcast production, guest coordination, social media, and production logistics while ensuring content is delivered accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Support producers with daily television news and podcast production.
Attend production meetings and assist with newsroom operations.
Type, edit, and distribute scripts, rundowns, schedules, and cue sheets.
Log video footage and maintain accurate metadata.
Assist with podcast production, guest booking, video capture, publishing, and social media support.
Coordinate travel arrangements and production logistics.
Process production expenses and petty cash.
Monitor timing during live and recorded broadcasts.
Prepare pre-recorded content for studio and control room use.
Create shot lists, production logs, schedules, and post-production documentation.
Monitor live feeds and assist with breaking news coverage.
Coordinate equipment and production support for studio and field crews.
Handle production-related errands and provide administrative support as needed.
Anticipate production needs while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
2+ years of professional experience after graduation (internships excluded) in television production, news, podcasting, radio, digital media, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of U.S. politics, journalism, current events, and the news cycle.
Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and perform well under tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with non-linear video editing systems is a plus.
Ability to work onsite Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, with flexibility to support evenings, weekends, and holidays as news coverage requires.
