Position Description:
The Graphic Designer + Radical Welcomer / Office Assistant position is a part of the Radical Welcomer Team. It is an integral part of the staffing and services provided by the MassArt International Education (MIE) and Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP). The main focus of the position is to co-create digital and print designs for our offices, and provide a welcoming and helpful presence to visitors to the shared MIE / CACP office space. The MIE and CACP are small but mighty teams! We pride ourselves in creating a vibrant, warm, welcoming space for students, staff, faculty, and community partners. We also seek invaluable communications and administrative support to make our work come to life. Graphic Designer / Office Assistants will complete a variety of administrative and/or design tasks that support both departments.
Specific duties include:
Co-create digital and print design needs for both offices (ie: event flyers, social media materials, promotional material, or web updates)
Provide a friendly and welcoming reception to visitors to the MIE and CACP office space, including greeting walk-in visitors, answering phone calls for the MIE, and alerting MIE + CACP staff to the arrival of appointments. Of high priority for this position is making our visitors feel radically welcomed and comfortable in our space.
Provide 6-8 weekly hours to be scheduled each semester with supervisors. While being committed to your scheduled hours, we ask that you be flexible and ready to take on whatever tasks need doing.
Maintain open/frequent communication with supervisors and staff. We ask that you plan ahead with your supervisor - we count on you!
Perform administrative tasks such as filing, copying, shredding, and data entry. Collect and deliver mail to/from Central Services. Post fliers in various campus buildings and at local businesses down Tremont Street. Maintain and keep an inventory of supplies (printer paper, toner, tape, markers, etc.), and alert both offices when supplies are low for reordering.
This position is a member of our MIE + CACP office teams. We ask that you bring a high level of professionalism to our work together.
Be prepared to answer basic questions about both offices. Your participation in an orientation session to MIE and CACP to understand the mission, values and programs of both offices will support you in doing this aspect of your work.
Additional responsibilities depending on student interest and expertise.

Qualifications:
Freshman and sophomores preferred!
Express strong interest in MIE + CACP's mission and values
Knowledge of Adobe Suite Tools (Adobe Express, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), ProCreate, Canva, and / or other design software
Ability to create multiple options for assignments and regularly apply feedback to collaborative designs
Ability to plan out work and meet deadlines
Enjoy connecting and working with people and possess a good sense of humor
Organized, enthusiastic, and motivated
Possess skill with administrative tasks and a sharp mind for details
Effective communicator - especially via email
Good writing skills
Comfortable taking initiative
Comfortable with completing tasks others have started or beginning tasks others will finish
Due to the nature of this position, responsibility and a strong work ethic are key characteristics of strong candidates
Work-Study Eligible students preferred, but not required
Applicant must be in good academic and judicial standing with the college at the time of application and during the length of employment
Must be a current matriculating undergraduate student at MassArt

PLEASE NOTE:
This position is part of the PartnershipWORKS program offered through MassArt's Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP). If you are hired for this position you will become a member of the team at your host site AND a member of the CACP student cohort.
The requirements for holding a PartnershipWORKS position through CACP are:
Commit to your position for the entire academic year (fall + spring semesters)
Participate in monthly PartnershipWORKS sessions throughout the year facilitated by CACP staff
Complete time-sheets in a timely manner ? every two weeks
Thoughtful completion of all CACP evaluations
Maintain communication with the CACP+MIE teams regarding any challenges and/or successes related to your experience at your host site
