Sr. Designer - Toddler Girls Apparel

A children's apparel company specializing in licensed and private label programs for major U.S. retail partners is hiring a Senior Designer to lead seasonal collection development for its toddler girls category. This is an onsite role based in New York City, working cross-functionally with Sales, Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design teams to bring trend-right, commercially successful product to market.
Schedule: Full-time, onsite in New York, NY.
Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 Per Year
What You'll Do: You will create and develop seasonal toddler girls apparel collections that align with current trends, customer preferences, and brand objectives. A core part of the role is researching market trends, competitor assortments, and emerging opportunities to shape new product concepts and design strategies. You will help define seasonal product direction, assortment strategies, and category priorities while generating design ideas that resonate with target consumers and capitalize on market opportunities.
Working closely with internal partners, you will collaborate with Sales, Merchandising, and other teams to identify customer needs and support seasonal business goals. You will manage project calendars and development timelines to keep deliverables on schedule, and review and approve design concepts prior to production.
You will also lead fit sessions and coordinate product handoffs with Product Development and Technical Design, partner with costing teams to meet target price points without compromising design integrity, and evaluate technical packages for accuracy throughout sampling and production. Approving lab dips, strike-offs, fabric selections, and production samples to meet quality and aesthetic standards is part of the day-to-day. The role also provides leadership to Associate Designers and partners closely with Graphic Designers on seasonal initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of design experience in the apparel industry
Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with excellent sketching and rendering abilities
Experience designing apparel in a high-volume retail environment
Deep understanding of fashion trends, garment construction, fabric development, and market positioning
Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills
Based in the New York City area or willing to relocate, as this position is fully onsite
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with licensed apparel programs
3D design experience
Prior experience designing for children's or toddler apparel categories
Experience mentoring or supervising Associate Designers
