A technical writer plays a crucial role in making complex technical information understandable and usable. In this role, you will focus on writing clear, user-friendly documentation for technical products, systems, processes, equipment operations & maintenance, research findings, etc., for internal or external audiences. The role partners closely with the department being supported to understand the unique requirements and needs of the communications.Position DescriptionWorks with developers, engineers, and other technical staff to ensure documentation reflects current processes and product functionalityWrites user manuals, how-to guides, integration guides, API documentation and system operation instructionsDetermines an effective structure and layout for complex manuals and other technical documentationConducts research and liaising with technical staff to ensure accurate interpretation of complex technical data, drawings, and specificationsEnsures that appropriate technical content and terminology review occurs and that provision is made for the incorporation of updates and revisionsEdits content to improve clarity, impact, flow, meaning, and readabilityDevelops schedules and plans for documentation projects, ensuring timely deliveryMay conduct usability testing to ensure documentation meets user needsPosition RequirementsBachelor's degree in English, communication, journalism, or STEM field is preferred4+ years relevant work experienceFamiliarity with software, hardware, or engineering concepts relevant to our industryExperience with documentation tools, content management systems and publishing softwareAbility to explain complex technical concepts in clear, concise language for technical and non-technical audiencesStrong attention to detailDesiredRobotic technology industry experiencePhysical Demands/ Work EnvironmentTravel Requirement: Less than 5%Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerAbility to work extended hours as requiredMay need to visit sites per project needsGreat Company!
