Position Overview
Under direct supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent administers and
implements goals and objectives of the Communications Office and provides daily
oversight of all functions of the Pawnee Nation's Communications Office.
Essential Function
1. Plans and directs daily operations of the Communications Office and ensures
implementation of policies and directives pertaining to tribal communications.
2. Formulates and implements policy, as it pertains to the tribal newsletter, tribal
website, press releases, and other communication functions.
3. Prepares content, develops layout, edits, publishes, and disseminates the
Annual Reports, Election Edition newsletters, and quarterly tribal newsletter,
"Chaticks si Chaticks," in accordance with the approved publication
calendar.
4. Shares any invalid or updated address information gathered through mailout
of the tribal newsletter to the Pawnee Nation's Enrollment Office, so that the
Enrollment Office may contact the tribal member with a request to officially
update his/her tribal enrollment records.
5. Prepares content, develops layout, edits, publishes, and disseminates
informational brochures, newsletters, and reports explaining the history,
status, and future plans of the Pawnee Nation in a timely manner.
6. Communicates with the Office of Information Technology to utilize the
Pawnee Nation's tribal website, http://www.pawneenation.org,
as a tool for updating pertinent information to tribal members.
7. Obtain pertinent and up-to-date information from the Pawnee Nation
departments to ensure the Pawnee Nation tribal webpage
and Social Media account(s) are up to date i.e.: Facebook pages,
Instagram, YouTube; Including administrative/oversight rights
on all Pawnee Nation's social media accounts.
8. Represent the Pawnee Nation at community events. Capturing high quality photos and videos and providing on-site communications
support. Serve as a key ambassador for the Pawnee Nation, ensuring
effective event coverage, stakeholder engagement, and assistance with
event-related activities as needed.
9. Works with the department of Emergency Management to develop and
disseminate a communications plan for use by the Pawnee Nation during
times of crisis.
10. Works with the Pawnee Business Council President and the Executive
Director to communicate timely, relevant Pawnee Nation government and
administrative services information to tribal members.
11. Works directly with directors on profiling programs, divisions, and branding
the Pawnee Nation,
12. Plans, develops, and implements strategies for generating resources or
funds for the Communications budget.
13. Prepares all necessary documentation for meetings, prepares required reports, and follows policies and procedures of the Pawnee Nation.
14. Achieves financial objectives by preparing and managing budgets. 12. Prepares, reviews, and submits administrative paperwork as prescribed
in Pawnee Nation policies, procedures, and fiscal practices.
15. Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures for
review by supervisor.
16. Maintains confidentiality, as necessary.
17. Order/Approve workflows for purchase orders
18. Contributes a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
19. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and within the scope of the
position.
Educational Requirements
Minimum
:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Preferred
:
Six (6) years of work experience related to communications, public relations, journalism, or related field may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.
Experience Requirements
Minimum

Three (3) years of work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.

:
Six (6) years of work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Computer:
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, etc., or
Mac Computer System, Mac OS, and Mac Software comparable to MS Office,
Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Contribute, etc.,
Proficiency in the proper use and operation of standard office equipment (fax, copier, telephone, etc.) and information systems equipment.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong media relations and public relations abilities.
Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media platforms and content management systems.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Pawnee Tribal issues and values.

Must work independently,
Must have a valid Oklahoma drivers' license and be insurable with Pawnee Nation's insurance carrier,
Must complete required NIMS Certification training within 90 Day Introductory Period.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; and walk. The employee may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work is often required. Occasions may arise requiring work outdoors where exposure to natural weather conditions may occur. There is regular interaction with the public, other agencies, and employees. Tight time constraints and multiple demands from several and multiple demands from several people are common. Travel may be required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations, and other events.
