Job Summary
The Content Producer plays a pivotal role in amplifying the reachand impact of Furman University's Center for Innovative Leadership(CIL) and Department of Graduate Studies through paid marketing andorganic, platform-native content and serves as an advisory resourceto Furman's four institutes.
This position owns content creation, editing and distribution forCIL and Graduate Studies, and provides strategic guidance and bestpractices to Furman's four institutes. Content efforts serveFurman's graduate degrees and certificates; executive education andleadership development for corporate audiences; and programmingsupporting the entrepreneurial, corporate innovation and socialinnovation ecosystem in Greenville and the surroundingregion.
Blending creativity, strategic thinking and data-informeddecision-making, this position is ideal for a strong storyteller,organized project manager and proactive marketer who can balancemultiple priorities, manage content pipelines, and use performanceinsights to improve strategy and results continuously. Responsiblefor creating and owning content across key channels-includingsocial media, email marketing, websites and other digitalplatforms-this position creates, manages and optimizes content thatdirectly supports the strategic marketing goals of revenue growthand brand awareness.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Campaign Execution
Create, edit and manage organic content-with an emphasis onshort-form video-across social media, email, websites, landingpages, blogs, the Furman Network and other digital platforms.
Own organic social media strategy and audience-building,including content calendars, video editing, visual storytelling and audience engagement, drawing on existing archive of thoughtleadership articles, blog posts, case studies, testimonials,product videos and recorded interviews.
Design accompanying creative assets (graphics, thumbnails,short-form packaging) to support video and social content.
Support SEO and AI Engine Optimization (AIEO) best practiceswhere they intersect with organic content and digitalmarketing.
Analyze content and campaign performance, using data andinsights to refine messaging, improve engagement and achievemeasurable outcomes.
Partner with the CIL's Executive Director and fellows on a recurring content capture cadence (a minimum of two sessions permonth) to produce professional-context video and socialcontent.
Develop and manage brand-building and reputation content,including "get to know us" style content that shows the peoplebehind the Innovation Lab's programs and expertise.
Create collateral materials and ads to support recruitment andoutreach goals.
Audience Engagement
Develop a deep understanding of audiences, programs andcompetitors to ensure relevant, compelling and effectivemessaging.
Refine audience segmentation strategies and tailor contentacross channels to support recruitment, engagement and retentiongoals.
Build relationships with campus partners, subject matterexperts and external stakeholders to identify content opportunitiesand help foster positive relationships across campus and in thebroader community.
Strategy & Brand Alignment
Contribute to integrated content and distribution strategyunder the supervision of the Director of Marketing and incollaboration with the Communications Manager, University Marketingand Communications, and external media partners.
Collaborate with University stakeholders to translate programgoals, audience insights and organizational priorities intocompelling content strategies.
Develop and monitor communication plans, reporting onperformance metrics regularly to evaluate effectiveness, identifyopportunities and optimize engagement.
Serve as a content strategy advisor to Furman's fourinstitutes, offering guidance, best practices and templates.
Ensure all communication and creative assets adhere to FurmanUniversity brand standards and/or Furman Innovation Lab brandstandards, maintaining consistency in messaging, voice and visualidentity.
Operations & Oversight
Manage content workflows, calendars and feedback/approvals toensure timely execution across multiple projects and internalstakeholders (e.g., program directors, content experts).
Prioritize competing projects and deadlines in a fast-pacedenvironment while maintaining quality and consistency.
Maintain awareness of and adherence to assigned marketingbudgets.
Manage communications with vendors (print, promotional items,etc.) in coordination with University Marketing andCommunications.
Manage a team of three graduate assistants to support creative(e.g., workflow, creative direction, review/feedback,scheduling).
Provide guidance and feedback to other content creatorssupporting marketing functions.
Qualifications & Competencies
The ideal candidate for this position is a creative storyteller whounderstands how content builds audience, credibility and measurableoutcomes (i.e., revenue, enrollments). This person is skilled atturning existing thought leadership and expert content intoshort-form video and social-native formats; has strong knowledge ofcontent marketing tactics and strategies; is a self-starter whothrives in a fast-paced environment; and is an enthusiasticcollaborator who excels at managing multiple projects, deadlinesand stakeholders.
Required Education, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree.
3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or relatedfield.
Strong knowledge of organic content strategy and socialplatform best practices; working familiarity with SEO and AI EngineOptimization (AIEO) concepts.
Experience managing content across multiple platforms,including social media, email marketing and websites.
Demonstrated proficiency in video editing and short-formcontent production, plus graphic design platforms (Adobe CreativeCloud, Canva) and multimedia production workflows. Portfolio ofprior creative work required.
Experience creating and optimizing video, audio and socialcontent for multiple channels.
Familiarity with analytics platforms and the ability tointerpret performance data to inform content decisions.
Experience with CRMs such as Slate and HubSpot.
Familiarity with video and print production processes.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to managemultiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders while maintainingattention to detail and a commitment to deadline- and budget-drivenwork.
Prior experience managing or directing a small team (e.g.,interns, graduate assistants or freelancers) preferred.
