Dark Passage Films is seeking a Social Media Manager / Production Assistant to join the team behind an upcoming psychological thriller short film as we enter crowdfunding, pre-production, and production.
We are currently launching a Seed&Spark campaign with a $40,000 fundraising goal , and we are looking for someone who can take ownership of the film's growing online presence and help turn our existing platforms into an active community around the project.
We already have a dedicated film website along with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Discord accounts. What we need now is someone who understands how to turn production materials, story elements, behind-the-scenes content, campaign updates, and creative ideas into consistent social content that people actually want to follow, share, and engage with.
This role begins with the crowdfunding campaign, continues through pre-production, and transitions into a paid on-set Production Assistant position during the film's October shoot in the Catskills.

Edit supplied photography, graphics, behind-the-scenes footage, and short-form video content
Perform light-to-moderate photo and video editing for social platforms
Source appropriate supplemental imagery or content when relevant to the film or campaign
Write captions and help shape the project's online voice
Engage with followers, filmmakers, horror and thriller communities, independent film audiences, and potential campaign supporters
Identify opportunities to organically expand the project's reach
Help build awareness and momentum around the film leading into production
Continue creating and capturing content throughout the October shoot

Experience with tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, or similar platforms is a plus.
A strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, short-form video, and current social media trends is particularly valuable.

ABOUT DARK PASSAGE FILMS
Dark Passage Films is an established New York City-based film production and distribution company working across development, production, post-production, delivery, and distribution.
Its slate includes award-winning shorts, feature films, and independent narrative projects, including Prego, Pickings, and the upcoming feature Plucked.
The company is led by filmmaker and producer Usher Morgan , whose work spans writing, directing, producing, editing, and distributing independent films from development through release.
For the person joining us, this is an opportunity to become part of an active film production environment, not simply take on a one-time social media assignment for a short film.
The selected candidate will work closely with the team throughout the crowdfunding and pre-production process for Our Last Trip, then transition into a paid on-set role during production in October.
Strong collaborators will also have the opportunity to be considered for future paid work with Dark Passage Films and its expanding slate of productions.
We are particularly interested in finding someone who wants to build relationships within independent film, gain meaningful hands‑on experience across both marketing and physical production, and potentially continue working with the company beyond Our Last Trip.
For the right person, this can be the beginning of an ongoing professional relationship with Dark Passage Films, its filmmakers, and the production partners involved in future projects.
ABOUT THE FILM
Our Last Trip is a psychological thriller centered on grief, memory, guilt, and a final journey into the Catskills that becomes increasingly difficult to escape.
The project is currently entering crowdfunding and pre‑production, with principal photography scheduled for October 2026 in the Catskills, New York.
The Seed&Spark campaign is targeting $10,000 to fund the production, including cast, crew, locations, equipment, safety, transportation, post‑production, and the resources necessary to execute the film at a professional level.
The Social Media Manager will play an important role in helping us tell the story behind the film before cameras roll, build an audience around the project, and bring supporters into the filmmaking process.
