for nonprofit clients, pairing digital-forward creative with audience insights and data-driven messaging. In this Creative Director role, you’ll lead concept and copy across integrated campaigns while working in a collaborative environment that prioritizes

innovation and professional growth .

This position is based in

Lanham, MD

with

remote

flexibility. Salary range is

USD 110,000 to 160,000 per year . You’ll also manage and develop a small team of creative professionals while partnering with strategy, account, production, development, and other agency teams to deliver high-excellence work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Own

copy and creative vision

for integrated, multichannel direct response campaigns aligned to client goals.

Develop and champion big ideas, including

messaging, tone, voice, and positioning

grounded in audience insights, strategy, brand, and fundraising objectives.

Provide clear, actionable creative direction to copywriters and art/design partners across the full campaign lifecycle.

Lead as a

hands-on creative

who can write, concept, edit, and elevate work while maintaining a high standard of creative excellence.

Collaborate with art and design leadership to build integrated concepts where

copy and visual ideas

work together to shape audience experience.

Lead, manage, and develop a team of

three direct reports

through coaching, feedback, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.

Present creative strategies and concepts to

clients and internal stakeholders

to build confidence and momentum.

Partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated work under changing priorities and deadlines.

Spot opportunities to strengthen execution through

testing, cultural and digital trends, AI, emerging technology, and innovation .

Support new business by developing creative concepts, strategies, and presentation materials.

Requirements

10+ years

of professional copywriting and creative development experience for direct response fundraising in an agency environment (nonprofits preferred).

Bachelor’s degree in

Advertising, English, Journalism, Creative Writing, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, Graphic Design , or a related field (equivalent experience considered).

Proven people management experience, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and developing creative professionals.

Experience presenting creative concepts, strategies, and recommendations to clients and senior stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability translating audience insights, data, and strategy into clear, compelling copy and creative concepts.

Strong understanding of direct response principles, including offer-focused, insight-driven creative and messaging.

Experience writing, interpreting, and using creative briefs to translate business objectives into creative direction.Ability to guide both copy and art/design to create cohesive integrated campaigns (direction across disciplines is highly valued).

Comfort working within brand guidelines while finding opportunities to evolve and strengthen creative.

Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, critical thinking, and project management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Experience working with project management platforms and workflows.

High-level proficiency with

Adobe Creative Cloud

and

Microsoft Office

(Word, PowerPoint), plus

Mac

proficiency.
