Women's Sweater Designer

An established wholesale apparel manufacturer in New York, NY is hiring a Women's Sweater Designer to develop full coordinated collections. The product sells primarily into the off-price channel, so familiarity with that price point is valuable. The role works cross-functionally with sales, production, and technical design teams to take collections from concept through development.
Schedule: Full time, onsite in New York, NY, five days per week.
Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000 Per Year
What You'll Do: You will design women's sweaters into full coordinated collections, developing seasonal lines with a cohesive point of view. Drawing on reference points such as A.L.C., Veronica Beard, L'Agence, Maje, and Sandro, you will translate market and trend direction into commercially viable product aimed at the off-price customer.
The role is collaborative and cross-functional. You will work closely with sales, production, and technical design throughout the development process, sketching and refining styles in Illustrator and managing the details that keep a collection organized and on track.
Required Qualifications

5 or more years of experience designing women's sweaters
Strong sketching ability and proficiency with Adobe Illustrator
Experience designing coordinated collections
Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, production, and technical design teams
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing for the off-price or value retail channel
Familiarity with sweater construction, gauges, and yarn types
Background working with overseas knitwear factories or mills
Knowledge of seasonal trend research and line planning
