Position Summary
San Diego State University Athletics is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to power live broadcasts behind Aztec Athletics. The role supports the broadcast systems and technology that deliver high‑quality live productions to campus audiences and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Support operation, maintenance, and enhancement of broadcast and audiovisual systems for live athletic events.
Coordinate technical production activities, including live broadcasts, remote productions, and videoboard operations.
Partner with campus departments, vendors, and broadcast partners to maintain reliable and innovative production systems.
Mentor student assistants and production staff; manage technical documentation, equipment, and future broadcast initiatives.
Qualifications
Three years progressive experience as an audiovisual engineer, covering operation and maintenance of television facilities and broadcast studios.
Knowledge of television and radio engineering principles, frequency allocation, wave propagation, and broadcast systems.
Familiarity with federal communications regulations and industry standards.
Experience with digital and analog electronics, audio‑visual systems, and troubleshooting broadcast equipment.
Experience with cable, fiber, microwave, and satellite networks supporting broadcast operations.
Proficiency with computerized broadcast/television production and webcasting systems, including video server technologies.
Experience planning, operating, maintaining, and supporting television and radio broadcasting facilities.
Ability to provide technical guidance, training, and support to staff and students.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Compensation
Salary within CSU Classification Range: $5,877–$8,561 per month; hiring salary not to exceed $6,750 per month.
