Associate, Digital Communications

Common Cause is seeking an Associate, Digital Communications to work with our External Affairs team to support our digital advocacy and fundraising. This role is responsible for executing the daily tasks that keep our multi-channel digital program running, with a focus on drafting and sending emails and SMS, growing our membership and revenue, and using A/B testing and data to continuously improve the effectiveness of our digital communications.
This is a full-time role reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Campaigns; this role is remote anywhere within the lower 48 United States. We hope our new Associate, Digital Communications, will start in September.
Responsibilities

Support content production and quality assurance
Draft, produce, and proofread original email, action, web, and/or SMS content
Support long-term and rapid response digital campaigns that increase membership, revenue, and support for Common Cause’s work
Collaborate with the Campaigns & Organizing team, Policy & Litigation team, and State teams to advancedigital campaigns that support our grassroots organizing and policy goals and report on results
Closely track Common Cause’s state and national work as well as the national news cycle to identify and make use of opportunities for digital content.
Respond to member questions and comments via email and SMS, or route to appropriate staff
Support testing, data analysis, and administrative work
Support organic and paid list growth opportunities, including our swap program and paid acquisition program
Code and implement HTML-based A/B tests from a shared testing queue, and report on results
Identify new test ideas to improve email and campaign performance
Run reports from Action Network and use data to identify successes and challenges in our work, and propose solutions for challenges
Support the maintenance of our digital infrastructure, including our onboarding processes and automated systems

Qualifications

Demonstrated interest in public advocacy campaigns and mobilization efforts
Demonstrated interest in current national democracy issues, including voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance reform, disinformation, ethics, etc.
Familiarity with office productivity tools including Microsoft Office and Zoom
A track record of working collaboratively with others, and the ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders with diverse interests
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects at once, with attention to detail, and a resourceful approach to solving problems
The following is required:
Experience building and sending emails or other HTML content in systems like Action Network, EveryAction/NGP, Mailchimp, WordPress, or similar platforms
Familiarity with ActBlue or other digital payment processors
Experience with HTML and digital A/B testing
Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for team and/or all staff retreats
Will­ing to have a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause, including being tagged on posts and creating content on behalf of the organization (as needed, Common Cause will provide accounts for staff members to use)
Per our nonpartisan policy, Common Cause staff members may not currently be in elected office (or running for office); on the Steering Committee or Finance Committee for any political candidate; or affiliated with the leadership of a political party

This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit and specific employment terms and conditions are subject to collective bargaining negotiations
