Job TitleSupports the City's efforts to inform, engage, and communicate with community members and other stakeholders via print, digital, and social media platforms. Responsible for creating both short- and long-form written and visual content, generating social media content, and supporting the Parks and Recreation Department's marketing efforts.Schedule: This position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week. The work schedule is flexible and will be established with the manager upon hire. Regular hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend availability is required to attend City events.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelops, writes, and edits written content for a variety of mediums and audiences, including the City's print publications and websiteManages the Parks and Recreation Department's social media platforms by monitoring content, engaging with the community, and responding to inquiriesPartners with staff in Communications and Parks and Recreation to execute various marketing campaigns related to recreation programming, Community Center membership, SandVenture, and other City amenities and servicesSupports the Communications Specialist – Digital Media with overall digital strategy implementation, including video content production, social media campaign execution, and website needsAssists with event and program photography for the Parks and Recreation DepartmentGenerates flyers, graphics, and other marketing materials for the Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Communications Specialist – Graphic DesignProvides professional, responsive customer service to internal and external audiencesSupports communications efforts for City events, public meetings and community engagement initiatives, which may include occasional evening or weekend workCompletes project-based assignments and other related duties as needed/assignedQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:High School diploma1 year of experience in digital media, communications, social media managementDesired Qualifications:Associate's degree in communications, digital media, marketing or a related fieldAdditional InformationExcellent written and oral communication skillsFriendly customer service skills and ability to work with the public in a professional, tactful mannerThorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuationPhotography skills, including basic knowledge of lighting and compositionProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookAbility to learn and effectively utilize content management systems for maintaining and updating the City websiteDemonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and consistently meet established deadlinesKnowledge of Canva and Adobe Suite applicationsBenefitsThere are no benefits associated with this position.
