About the Role
The Company is in search of a Vice President of News to spearhead the editorial, operational, and strategic vision for its Miami newsroom. The successful candidate will be tasked with setting the long-term direction for the newsroom, ensuring the delivery of exceptional journalism across various platforms, and championing innovation, audience growth, and a high-performing newsroom culture. This role requires a leader with a deep understanding of the local media landscape, particularly the cultural, social, and political dynamics of the diverse Hispanic audience in South Florida. The Vice President of News will be responsible for providing strong editorial leadership, fostering a culture of creativity and inclusion, and maintaining the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
Applicants for the Vice President of News position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role within a large, multi-platform newsroom. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading high-performing teams, developing and executing long-term editorial and business strategies, and managing departmental budgets. Strong financial acumen, experience in breaking news and investigative journalism, and a deep understanding of audience measurement and digital media are essential. The role also demands exceptional people leadership skills, the ability to influence and collaborate across teams, and fluency in both English and Spanish. The Vice President of News will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including during major breaking news events, and to ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
