We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for Mandarin Chinese-speaking songwriters, lyricists, performers, composers, and music professionals to evaluate AI-generated lyrics and music using strong linguistic, creative, and cultural judgement.

This role supports advanced generative music AI evaluation across contemporary Mandarin-language and international music. Selected experts will assess lyrics for quality, originality, naturalness, and prompt adherence, compare generated material with published songs, and evaluate whether vocabulary, slang, and regional expressions sound authentic in Mandarin Chinese.

Key Responsibilities

Lyrics Quality Evaluation

Evaluate AI-generated lyrics for quality, creativity, coherence, and originality
Assess whether lyrics appropriately follow the intended prompt, theme, tone, and musical context
Identify awkward phrasing, repetitive writing, weak imagery, or unnatural language
Evaluate lyrical structure, flow, word choice, and stylistic consistency
Apply professional songwriting and musical judgement when rating outputs
Originality & Similarity Review

Compare AI-generated lyrics with published songs and reference material
Identify meaningful lyrical similarities, recurring phrases, or potentially derivative patterns
Distinguish common musical language from unusually close textual overlap
Evaluate originality across themes, expressions, and lyrical construction
Apply consistent standards when assessing similarity and creative distinctiveness
Mandarin Language & Cultural Authenticity

Evaluate whether lyrics sound natural and idiomatic in

Mandarin Chinese
Assess vocabulary, slang, colloquial expressions, and regional usage
Identify phrasing that sounds translated, unnatural, or culturally inappropriate
Review tone and language for authenticity within contemporary Mandarin-language musical contexts
Apply knowledge of Mandarin-language music, lyrical conventions, and cultural references
Music & Genre Context

Evaluate lyrics within the context of intended genres and musical styles
Assess whether lyrical choices fit the expected audience, tone, and performance style
Apply familiarity with contemporary Mandarin-language genres, sub-genres, artists, and songwriting traditions
Identify stylistic mismatches between lyrics and intended musical direction
Consider vocal delivery and musical context when assessing lyrical effectiveness
AI Evaluation & Quality Assurance

Apply detailed evaluation guidelines consistently across AI-generated outputs
Provide clear ratings and structured written feedback
Identify recurring model weaknesses involving language, creativity, originality, and cultural nuance
Maintain consistent quality standards across evaluation tasks
Contribute specialist music and language expertise to the improvement of generative AI systems
Ideal Profile

Native or near-native proficiency in

Mandarin Chinese
Strong ability to understand detailed written instructions in English
Professional experience as a Songwriter, Lyricist, Performer, Composer, Music Journalist, or closely related music professional
Strong knowledge of the Mandarin-language music scene
Excellent understanding of natural Mandarin phrasing, slang, idiomatic language, and cultural nuance
Strong analytical judgement when evaluating lyrical quality and originality
Access to headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening
Broad familiarity with contemporary Mandarin-language genres, sub-genres, and artists
Formal training in music performance, theory, composition, or songwriting is advantageous
Credited or published songwriting work is highly valued
Ability to work independently and apply detailed evaluation criteria consistently

Part-time independent contractor engagement
Fully remote

Most contributors work approximately

20 hours per week , with additional hours available depending on project needs
Expected project duration of up to

6 months
Immediate start
Compensation: $30-$55/hour
Applicants may be asked to complete a Mandarin Chinese bilingual competency assessment during onboarding
Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
