POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Arts Director is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and advancing the technical infrastructure that supports worship and ministry across Wooddale Church. This role provides leadership for all core technical systems (Audio, Video, and Lighting) in Wooddale's large event rooms and campuses, ensuring reliability, consistency, and scalability for major services, events, and future growth.

The Technical Director partners closely with the Creative Arts Pastor, Creative Arts Production Manager, and the CFO to align technical systems with ministry vision, steward resources wisely, and plan for long-term sustainability. This role focuses on infrastructure strategy, equipment standards, system health, and future planning while providing technical support and expertise that enables excellent worship experiences. This leader brings both ministry sensitivity and technical expertise, demonstrating a commitment to worship, excellence, and continuous improvement while supporting both traditional and modern worship environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership

Serveasatrustedtechnicaladvisortoministryandexecutiveleadership

TechnicalInfrastructure&SystemsOwnership

Provideownershipforthedesign,documentation,andfutureplanningofallAudio,Video,andLighting systems in Wooddale's primary worship and event spaces.

Establishandmaintaintechnicalstandardsforequipment,signalflow,networking,andsystem architecture across all campuses.

Ensuresystemsarereliable,service-ready,andcapableofsupportingmajorservices,specialevents,and multi-venue needs.

Providetechnicalexpertiseandsupportforlarge-scaleworshipenvironments,includingchoirs, orchestras, and complex musical productions.

EquipmentLifecycle&Maintenance

Overseethefulllifecycleoftechnicalequipment,includingevaluation,purchasingrecommendations, maintenance, repair, and replacement.

Developpreventativemaintenanceplanstoprotectsystemuptimeandreduceriskduringmajorservices and events.

Maintainaccuratedocumentationofsystems,signalpaths,inventories,andtechnicalconfigurations Strategic Planning & Future Development

Createandmanage5-yearand10-yearinfrastructureroadmapsfortechnicalsystemsacrosscampuses.

PartnerwiththeCreativeArtsPastorandCFOonbudgeting,capitalplanning,andprioritizationof technical investments.

ResearchandevaluateemergingtechnologiestoensureWooddale'sspacesremaincurrent,flexible,and mission-aligned.

Provideprojectleadershipandtechnicaloversightforrenovations,newbuilds,andsystemupgradesin large event rooms.

CrossCampusTechnicalSupport

Serveasatechnicalresourceforcampusesbyprovidingguidance,troubleshooting,andsystemsupportas needed.

Ensureconsistencyandinteroperabilityoftechnicalsystemsacrosslocationswhileallowingforcontextual differences.

Supportmajorservicesandeventsthroughsystemsreadiness,technicalconsultation,andadvance planning.

Bachelor’sdegreeortechnicalcertificationinrelevantfield

3-5yearsofdirectmanagementexperiencepreferred

Professionallevelabilityandknowledgeofproductionequipmentandoperationforbothmodernand traditional styles of worshiping, including:

DigitalaudioconsolesandIEMsystems

LEDlightingandusage,includingtheatricalandintelligentlightingforvideoandDMX programming

Experienceandknowledgeofmulti-venueproduction,includingvideousageandproductionstaff for multiple locations

Ability to work with and lead a team in providing technical support for a SATB choir of 130 singers,chamberchoirof24auditionedsingers,fullorchestraandinstrumentalensembles (strings and/or brass).

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
Wooddale Church offers a comprehensive benefits package for all 40+ hour full-time employees, which includes opportunities to elect Medical (including Nice Healthcare), Dental, Life/AD&D, HSA, Flex, LTD, Vision, Voluntary Life/AD&D, Health & Wellness Plan and a 403(b) retirement plan with a generous company match and immediate vesting. Projected salary range is $56,000 - $75,000 depending on qualifications.
