JoinNYCEDC's Asset Management Design & Construction (AMDC) team and help deliver capital projects that improve and preserve New York City's public assets.TheAMDC team manages the planning, design, and construction of a diverse portfolio across all five broughs, including industrial and commercial facilities, waterfront properties, cruise terminals, and public markets. Working with a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, planners, and construction professionals,you'llhelpmanage delivery ofprojects that support the city's infrastructure and economic growth.
Position Overview: The Project Director will lead and support the full lifecycle of design and construction projects related to the NY C Groceries initiative and other projects as assigned . The Project Director will work closely with the AMDC leadership, NYC Groceries leadership, internal NYCEDC departments, external partners, consultants, governmental agencies, operators, and community stakeholders to ensure NYC Groceries and related projects are planned, procured, designed, and delivered in alignment with organizational goals, policy objectives, budget requirements, and project schedules. The Project Director will support execution of the NYCGroceriesbrandand aesthetic s , ensuringconsistentimplementation across all stores.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Execution/Design & Construction :
Manage capital plans and project budgets acrossassignedportfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fiscal responsibility.
Oversee all development phases, including procurement of architecture, engineering, and construction teams, conducting thorough existing conditions assessments, feasibility studies, budgeting, and securing regulatory approvals.
Maintain scope, cost, and schedule controls; ensuringaccurateproject reporting and documentation throughout the lifecycle.
Manage project quality, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet NYCEDC standards.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks usingproactive, risk-based management approach.
StakeholderEngagement :
Collaborate across NYC Groceries teams to ensure projects align with current policies and operational and maintenance considerations.
Cultivate andmaintainrelationships with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, construction managers,governmentalagencies, and community organizations.
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.
Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture,Engineering, Urban Planning,Construction Management, ora related field.
4 +years of professional experienceinarchitecture,engineering,urban planning,construction management, or related fields.
Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Analytical thinker with a proven ability to anticipate andtroubleshoot projectchallenges and developrecommendedsolutions.
Experience with NYC project delivery and grocery store design/construction preferred.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities whilemaintainingaccuracy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Clear and effective written and verbalcommunicator.
Knowledge of budgeting and cost analysis for design and construction projects.
Experience withconstruction management softwareand scheduling softwarepreferred.
Actively pursuing professional registration (PE, RA,AICP,PMP, etc.) preferred.
Valid driver’s licensepreferred.
NYC residency isrequiredwithin180 daysof hire.
Salary Range
$100,000 - $103,000 USD
