Job Description
Summary: The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) seeks a creative andreliable student photographer to capture images that showcase theenergy, people, and spaces that make up the AU community. Thephotographer will support CAS marketing and communications effortsby documenting events, research, performances, and campus life foruse on social media, the CAS website, digital screens, and printmaterials.
Essential Functions
Photograph CAS events, lectures, performances, and studentactivities on and around campus.
Capture high-quality portraits of students, faculty, and stafffor profiles and stories.
Edit and organize digital images for use across universitycommunication platforms.
Collaborate with CAS communications staff to plan and executevisual storytelling projects.
Maintain organized photo archives and submit images in a timelymanner.
Uphold university brand standards and ensure proper imagerights and releases.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
5 - 10 hours per week.
Salary Range
$18.40 - $20.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience
Current American University student.
Demonstrated experience with digital photography (DSLR ormirrorless).
Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop.
Strong attention to detail and creative eye for composition andlighting.
Excellent time management and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience with event photography or photojournalism.
Familiarity with AU’s campus, student organizations, and CASprograms.
Basic video shooting or editing skills (optional but aplus).
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Flexible scheduling around class commitments.
Proficiency editing and creating content (photo and video) forInstagram.
Depending on the candidate hired, there may be an opportunityto support broader social media content creation.
