About the Role
Commonplace is a payments and delivery-enabled marketplace for big items like fitness equipment, appliances, wellness equipment, and golf carts. We do what Facebook Marketplace can't, and we've been featured in the WSJ, TechCrunch, CNBC, Fast Company, and the Financial Times. We’re hiring a Social & Content Marketing Lead to own Commonplace's organic social presence end to end. It’s a hands-on role, not just a strategy and scheduling role. You'll be editing, in the comments, on set, and on camera. You're not briefing an agency and you're not managing a content team. You are the content team. This role is for you if you have: 1-3 years of experience managing socials for a brand or creator, a real point of view on short-form, and cultural fluency to make a brand feel native on platforms.
Resumes must include a portfolio or links to accounts you've personally grown to be considered.
What You'll Own
Content
Set the direction for what we make. Bring the point of view on formats, series, and cadence, then produce it.
Own the content calendar and posting cadence. You create and caption content for Instagram and TikTok. The same content gets reposted to YouTube, X, and LinkedIn.
Build the calendar around what's actually happening in the business: seasonal category moments, new inventory, and new category launches
Run the creative pipeline. Coordinate our monthly or bi-monthly filming days, be on camera when it makes sense, organize footage, manage our video editor or cut short-form yourself.
Coordinate branded behind-the-scenes content, including delivery and installation shoots and customer testimonials.
Regular performance reporting from native analytics across platforms
Community
Own the inbox. Comments, DMs, and mentions across platforms
Manage our Facebook group of over 250K members. Check in regularly, comment on listings, clear out posts that don't belong.
Build our presence on Reddit. Participate in the subreddits where our buyers and sellers already are, in a way that earns us native brand awareness.
Bring back what you hear. The questions that keep coming up, what people complain about, how they get excited about.
Creators and partnerships
Brief outside videographers and source UGC creators and creator partnerships.
Support our paid social & brand marketing content needs. Flag organic and UGC content that's working so it can move into paid.
Pitch in on other brand marketing campaigns as needed.
What Success Looks Like
Reach, views, engagement, and followers on Instagram and TikTok grow, and keep growing.
Content ships consistently on a schedule without anyone chasing it.
Our Facebook group and Reddit presence feel like a real person is behind them, and what you hear there makes it back to the team.
What You Bring
1-3 years managing organic social & community for a brand or creator (can be your own account). You've grown the account(s) organically and show us the numbers: what you posted, what it did, and what you changed because of it. A portfolio is required to apply.
You're genuinely native to Instagram and TikTok. You know the difference between a video that performs and one that just gets posted, and you can say why.
You can spot how to put Commonplace inside a cultural moment.
Equally creative and analytical. You care about how content performs, and you're willing to test concepts that might not work.
You’re comfortable working independently, testing, and iterating. You can own a pipeline with minimal hand-holding.
Fluency with AI tools (Claude, Grok Bot, Codex) as a daily accelerator for ideation, copy, and workflow.
Proficiency using Canva, Premiere Pro, CapCut, or Instagram Edits for content creation.
You’re comfortable in front of and behind the camera.
Experience sourcing and briefing creators or UGC partners a plus
$70,000 - $80,000 base salary + equity
Summer Fridays, year-round
Flexible PTO and company holidays
Flex remote days: we work together in person in our Flatiron office and believe in-person collaboration is a real advantage, with meaningful flexibility built in
