Director of People

Perelel · Los Angeles, CA, USA ·

Pay:
180.000
Job type:
Full Time

Perelel is the leading women's health brand for every stage of the motherhood journey, and we're evolving into a full women's health platform. Founded by a team of moms alongside an OB/GYN, Perelel offers medically-backed, stage-specific support and is one of the fastest-growing brands in the category, on track to nearly double net sales this year as we expand from DTC into a true omnichannel business across Amazon and national retail.

We're looking for a Director of People to build and lead the people function at Perelel as we scale. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate as a strategic partner to the executive team while still building the systems from the ground up.

You'll own people strategy end to end: org design and workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance and development, total rewards, compliance, and culture. You'll advise leaders on the hardest people decisions, build the infrastructure that lets a lean team punch far above its weight, and shape the employee experience at a company on a mission to change women's health.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Build the people roadmap that supports our growth stage, and translate it into prioritized initiatives with clear outcomes
  • Establish people metrics and reporting (retention, engagement, time to hire, comp equity) and use them to drive decisions
  • Prepare people related materials for board and investor reporting as needed

Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand

  • Own the full talent strategy, from workforce planning through sourcing, assessment, offer negotiation, and closing senior hires
  • Build a repeatable, high signal interview process, including scorecards, structured interviews, and interviewer training
  • Develop Perelel's employer brand and candidate experience so we win talent against much larger companies
  • Design and run performance management, goal setting, and calibration cycles that are rigorous without being bureaucratic
  • Build career frameworks, leveling, and development paths that give people a clear picture of growth
  • Coach managers on feedback, difficult conversations, and team leadership, and build the manager training to scale it
  • Lead employee relations and investigations with sound judgment, discretion, and legal partnership where appropriate
  • Own succession planning and talent reviews for critical roles

Total Rewards & Compliance

  • Own compensation philosophy, salary banding, benchmarking, and the annual comp cycle
  • Lead benefits strategy, broker relationships, renewals, and open enrollment
  • Ensure multi state employment compliance, including classification, wage and hour, leave administration, and required training
  • Oversee HRIS strategy, payroll partnership, and the integrity of employee data and records
  • Own and evolve the employee handbook and policy framework as the company grows

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Define and steward the culture deliberately, from values in practice through recognition, rituals, and communication
  • Design engagement and listening strategy, including surveys, and turn findings into action leadership actually follows through on
  • Lead internal communications for people moments: org changes, all hands, leadership announcements
  • Oversee team events, offsites, and connection across a distributed and in office team

WHO YOU ARE

  • 8 to 12 years of HR and people experience, with at least 2 to 3 years leading a people function or team, ideally in high growth consumer, DTC, or CPG environments
  • Proven experience scaling an organization through a period of meaningful growth, and comfort building the function rather than inheriting it
  • Deep expertise across compensation, benefits, employment law and multi state compliance, performance management, and employee relations
  • Strong executive presence, with the credibility and judgment to advise founders and C level leaders, and the confidence to push back
  • Excellent commercial instincts, able to connect people decisions to business outcomes
  • Exceptional discretion and emotional intelligence when handling sensitive matters
  • Systems thinker who can build scalable infrastructure while remaining willing to do the work personally in a lean environment
  • Genuine passion for building an inclusive, high performing culture, and for our mission to improve women's health

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO and company holidays
  • A seat at the table and the opportunity to build the people function at a mission driven company changing women's health
