Artist Services ManagerTexas Performing Arts at the University of Texas at Austin (TPA) is the nation's largest and most active university-based performing arts center by annual attendance, budget, and number of events. Both an anchor institution in Austin's arts landscape and a nationally significant presenter, TPA operates venues on the University of Texas at Austin campus including Austin's largest theater, Bass Concert Hall. Its presenting includes Broadway in Austin; an international season of dance, theater, and music; and the Texas Welcomes series of national touring artists. Education is at the core of TPA's programs, which serve more than 30,000 K-12 students and the 55,000 students of UT Austin.PurposeTexas Performing Arts (TPA) is seeking experienced, hospitality-driven professionals to serve as Artist Services Managers on an over-hire / as-needed basis. This role is the frontline of artist and company support—serving as the boots-on-the-ground facilitators for performances, events, and activations both onsite at Bass Concert Hall and at offsite locations. Artist Services Managers play a critical role in ensuring seamless event execution by maintaining logistics, supporting artist hospitality, and acting as an extension of the Event Management team. This position is designed to expand operational capacity, allowing Event Managers to focus on high-level client experience, while Artist Services Managers execute and oversee real-time needs on the ground.ResponsibilitiesEvent & Show SupportServe as on-site lead support for event setup, execution, and strikeOpen and close events in alignment with TPA standards and protocolsAct as the primary "boots on the ground" contact during assigned shiftsExecute event logistics including deliveries, room setups, and transitionsArtist & Company HospitalitySupport all backstage hospitality needs including dressing rooms, green rooms, and catering coordinationEnsure spaces are clean, stocked, and aligned with artist expectations and ridersServe as a professional and welcoming presence for touring artists, crews, and VIPsOperations & LogisticsCoordinate and complete runs for supplies, meals, and last-minute requestsTroubleshoot real-time needs with efficiency and discretionMaintain clear communication with Event Managers and cross-functional teams (Production, Security, Guest Experience, etc.)Capacity & Team SupportAct as an extension of the Events team to increase bandwidth during high-volume periodsExecute delegated tasks independently with minimal oversightSupport overall flow of event operations so Event Managers can prioritize client experience and qualityRequired Qualifications2+ years experience in live events, hospitality, venue operations, or related fieldStrong understanding of backstage operations and/or artist hospitality preferredAbility to work independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environmentsExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsProfessional, calm, and solutions-oriented demeanorMust be 21 years or olderFlexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidaysValid Driver's LicenseReliable transportation (offsite support may be required)Hourly Rate$25/hour (overtime and extended shift rates applied as applicable)Working ConditionsThis position is based in Austin, Texas and requires residence in the greater Austin areaWork in and around theatrical performance environmentRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstationWalking to multiple buildings on campusUse of manual dexterityClimbing stairs and laddersAbility to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbsWork ShiftWork shift is as scheduled and neededRequired MaterialsCover letter detailing interest in and qualifications for this specific opportunityResume/CV3 professional references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor
