A great UHY cleint is seeking a Grants Accounting Manager to oversee grant accounting and financial administration for a diverse portfolio of government, corporate, and private foundation grants supporting MiSide, its subsidiaries, and partners.


This position will oversee the grant lifecycle from award through closeout, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, billing, financial reporting, and compliance with grant and contract requirements. The Grants Accounting Manager will supervise a team, coordinate closely with Finance and Program staff, and serve as a key point of contact for grantors as needed.


The ideal candidate will have strong grants management and accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage grant administration from the initial award through the conclusion and closeout of each grant.
  • Oversee grant management activities and work closely with program staff to ensure compliance with grant billing, financial, and reporting requirements.
  • Supervise and direct staff, including allocating work and ensuring required supporting documentation is gathered for accurate and timely grant billings.
  • Review and analyze grants and contracts to ensure expenditures and calculations are accurate and consistent with grant requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Finance and Program teams to facilitate accurate grant accounting, billing, reporting, and compliance.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with grantors and communicate with them as needed regarding financial and grant-related matters.
  • Perform general accounting activities, including account reconciliations and journal entries, and assist the Controller with month-end close and other accounting activities.
  • Maintain monthly accounting records necessary to support the grant billing process.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of monthly grant invoices and related supporting documentation.
  • Prepare required financial information and documentation for the annual A-133/Single Audit process.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings, agency committees, and other organizational projects as assigned.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and development through job-related training and continuing education.
  • Follow our client's policies, procedures, and code of ethics and comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.


Experience

  • 3–5 years of grants management experience required.
  • 5–7 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with A-133/Single Audits preferred.
  • Experience with government, corporate, or private foundation grants is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong accounting knowledge with the ability to perform and review reconciliations, journal entries, grant billing, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of grant compliance, financial requirements, and supporting documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with both Finance and Program teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work independently while managing competing priorities.
