Essential Job Functions
Position Summary
The Marketing Coordinator for Outreach and Education is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of external strategic marketing and communication initiatives that promote the Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness (AIHW), its programs, educational opportunities, conferences, and community outreach efforts. This position supports the Institute’s mission by increasing awareness, engagement, and participation among healthcare professionals, students, community members, partners, and stakeholders throughout the region. The Marketing Coordinator will create visual and written content,, manage social media platforms, support event promotion, and collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen the impact of the outreach App Well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications
Support the development and implementation of marketing plans and materials to support outreach, education, and community engagement initiatives.
Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all marketing materials and communication channels including social media.
Assist the Director of communications with writing and editing marketing content including newsletters, press releases, website content, brochures, reports, and promotional materials.
Analyze attendance trends and participant feedback to inform future conference marketing strategies.
Collaborate with professional organizations to promote continuing education opportunities, conferences, training, and outreach programs.
Ensure marketing deliverables are met and aligned with conference sponsorship levels.
Assist with website content management and updates to ensure information remains accurate and current.
Collaborate with program staff, community partners, healthcare organizations, and educational institutions to expand outreach efforts.
Support participant recruitment and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Work closely with Institute leadership and program staff to align marketing efforts with organizational goals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent writing skills
Graphic design and visual storytelling.
Strategic marketing and brand management.
Social media planning, content creation etc..
Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations.
Experience working in healthcare, higher education, nonprofit organizations, workforce development, or community outreach settings.
Experience conducting market research and analyzing marketing data.
Knowledge of website content management systems and email marketing platforms.
Experience with photography, videography, and multimedia content development.
Familiarity with the healthcare, education, and community landscapes of Western North Carolina and the Appalachian region.
