The Senior Technical Writing Specialist is responsible for creating, planning, writing and editing complex operational, instructional, interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs), maintenance or test procedures. This will entail documenting engineering processes and specifications by editing software developer and engineering staffs notes and procedures and applying formatting in order to support the writing and publication of hardware and software test procedures. Additionally, youll work with junior writers providing feedback and critiquing work in order to help develop leadership skills, documentation skills and expertise with production tools and projects.What youll experience:Technologies that arent just top-notch, theyre often top-secretA team of bold thinkers committed to exploring whats nextOpportunities to gain new knowledge - as its discoveredWhat you bring to the table:Bachelors Degree in a Technical Discipline (engineering, science, etc) A minor in Technical Writing, English, Language Arts, Foreign Languages, etc. strongly preferred or a strong interest in these areasStrong and demonstrated technical writing skillsStrong team leadership and organizational skillsExpert level proficiency with Microsoft Office ToolsWorking knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) strongly preferredWorking knowledge of (or willingness to learn) databasesWorking knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and AcrobatKnowledge of (or willingness to learn) cabled undersea systemsBasic working skills and knowledge of (or willingness to learn) various high level, markup, scripting, etc. languages (Java, Python, XML, SQL, etc)Experience working with large datasets is a plus, but not requiredAbility to work within an established team structureWhat sets you apart:Strives to grow expertise in the fundamentals of their job (e.g. production tools, projects, DoD MIL STD, IETMS, etc.)Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team successStrong initiative on assignments and ability to exercise independent judgment and professionally executes projectsPlease note, this is an onsite position and requires work to be done on site at our McLeansville, NC location.
