Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree in digital media, communications, journalism, marketing, photography, film production, broadcasting, multimedia storytelling, public relations, or related field preferred.
Three years of professional experience in videography, digital content creation, social media storytelling, multimedia production, marketing, journalism, or related field required.
Demonstrated portfolio of video and digital storytelling work
Licensure or Certification: N/A
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Knowledge of videography, digital storytelling, social media content creation, and audience engagement strategies.
Demonstrated creativity, initiative, adaptability, visual storytelling instincts, and ability to recognize meaningful content opportunities in fast-paced environments.
Ability to identify and develop compelling student-centered stories and authentic visual content opportunities.
Ability to create engaging short-form and long-form digital content aligned with district communication, enrollment, and audience engagement goals.
Knowledge of current social media trends, platform algorithms, audience behaviors, short- form video techniques, mobile-first storytelling, and emerging digital content strategies.
Proficiency with video editing, audio editing, lighting, and digital content production equipment and software.
Ability to work independently or collaborate effectively within a team.
Ability to interact effectively with students, families, staff, school leaders, and community members in diverse educational settings.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
Maintain valid driver's license with a driving record that aligns with the district’s motor vehicle record requirement while employed.

Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Digital Content Creator – Student Experience Marketing develops student-centered digital content that showcases the experiences, opportunities, and culture of Des Moines Public Schools. Through strategic video production and social media storytelling, this position supports student enrollment, family engagement, and public confidence while helping prospective families understand why DMPS is the right fit for their student. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identify, develop, and create authentic, student-centered digital storytelling content that highlights school experiences, academic and extracurricular opportunities, and district initiatives, supporting enrollment, engagement, and community awareness.
Produce platform-specific digital content, including short- and long-form video, promotional assets, and social media content that supports district priorities.
Collaborate with the Enrollment, Marketing and Campaign Strategist and district stakeholders to develop and maintain a proactive content calendar, coordinate content opportunities, and support communication campaigns and district initiatives that showcase students, schools, and enrollment priorities.
Support development of social-first digital content aligned with audience trends, platform best practices, and district communication goals.
Capture video content in a variety of school and district environments including classrooms, events, activities, performances, athletic competitions, and community engagement opportunities.
Edit and produce digital content using current video, audio, and content production software and tools.
Analyze digital content performance and audience engagement metrics to identify successful strategies and continuously improve campaign outcomes.
Organize, maintain, and manage digital media files, photography archives, video footage, and content resources supporting district communication efforts.
Monitor emerging trends and best practices in digital storytelling, short-form video, audience engagement, social media content, and school marketing.
Maintain professional learning and growth through professional organizations, seminars, course work, and collaboration.
