Director, Entrepreneurial Programming

Job Summary

The Director of Entrepreneurial Programming, as a member of the Gail Miller Business School, supervises and supports a number of operations including but not limited to: The Mill Incubator and Co-Working Space; Grants and Compliance for Assigned Programs; Co-procurement of Grants (with SLCC Development Office and the SLCC Office of Sponsored Projects); Global Business Center Program and Events; Refugee Leadership Training Program (Adult and Youth Courses); support the development and running of external Advisory Committees; Support the development of Curricular content, Recruiting and Hiring of Instructors, Facilitation of programming, and Stakeholder Relations for Assigned Programs.

This role also supports the academic affairs division of the Gail Miller Business School by collaborating with faculty and providing opportunities for business students. This role is expected to actively participate in various communities (e.g., Silicon Slopes), to make significant contributions to delivering events and workshops, and to connect GMBS faculty, staff, and students to relevant opportunities. Building and maintaining key relationships inside and outside the school is essential to success in this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Program Oversight and Development, Community Engagement,

Work closely with GMBS Associate Deans and Directors to identify and address specific needs, including but not limited to: management of the entrepreneurial programs and staff, outreach to community and industry members, and increase program satisfaction and participation rates.

Grow and develop the current programs and work collaboratively with staff and industry partners to identify future program needs.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and deliver innovative workshops, competitions, and experiential learning opportunities that enhance business and entrepreneurial skills.

Maintain relationships with other entrepreneurship centers at our higher education partners to provide SLCC students with resources and pathways to complete their degrees and provide opportunities for further education at four-year universities.

Manage and lead support staff to identify goals and assess outcomes, which may include administrative assistants, program managers, coordinators, and other part time staff.

Establish and monitor budgets and facilitate grants, donations and financial support in accordance with Salt Lake Community College policies and procedures.

Collaboration and Teamwork

Identify opportunities to expose Gail Miller Business School students to the employers and businesses that utilize the Incubator space to amplify impact. Consider opportunities which support internships, employment, and mentorship pathways by example.

Collaborate with Gail Miller Business School Marketing Manager and Institutional Marketing to highlight relevant stories, relationships and opportunities.

Work with Faculty and Staff to incorporate methods/skills/ideas important to our higher education partners and to industry employers into courses, programs, and extra‑curricular activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field required

Four(4) to Seven (7) years of direct experience:

In representing, funding, founding, and/or managing business or entrepreneurial ventures

As a recognized subject matter expert or advisor in early- stage or growth-focused businesses

Strong connections to local and regional business and entrepreneurial communities and leaders

Credible experience in at least 2 of the following areas: entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, skills development, complex project management

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field

Public persona as evidenced by speaking invitations, conference presentations, awards, social media presence, etc.

At least 5 years of direct experience in funding, founding, and/or managing business or entrepreneurial ventures in alliances or collaborative structures

Relationships with local and regional business and entrepreneurial communities and leaders

Credible experience in 4 of the following areas: entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, skills development, complex project management

Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills
