About the Role:
The Brand & PR Manager will help lead and execute external communications initiatives that drive brand awareness, sales, traffic and consumer engagement. This role plays a critical part in shaping our external narrative and how it comes to life in earned media -- through compelling stories, opportunistic moments in pop culture and activations that showcase Subway as the freshest, most convenient, and most affordable quality sandwich option on the market.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
PR Planning & Program Execution - Executing day-to-day U.S. Brand PR efforts. Brand PR accounts for more than 80% of Subway's proactive news coverage each year, helping drive sales, traffic, and improving brand perception.
Trend Monitoring and Opportunistic Ideation - Keeping close tabs on what's trending in pop culture and partnering with Social and other marketing leads to turn these moments into earned media opportunities
Campaign & Cross-functional Project Management - Supporting Marketing and Operations on key initiatives and leading cross-functional teams, as needed
Media Monitoring, Measurement & Reporting - Managing the Communications department's measurement & analytics platform and software suite/vendor, also used by the LATAM and Canada communications teams for media monitoring and reporting.
Content Creation, Writing & Production
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field.
5+ years of professional experience in Brand PR/communications and media relations. Previous agency or in-house experience strongly preferred.
Proven earned media experience, including working with journalists at all levels of media.
Detail-oriented project manager able to work independently and cross-functionally in a large enterprise setting.
Experienced newsjacker who is locked into what's trending on social and can capitalize on these moments by turning them into earned media wins.
Creative thinker and problem solver with big activations, scrappy ideas, and day-to-day efforts to work smarter.
Passion for PR reporting and measurement. Easily leverages monitoring/analytics software and tools to tell an impactful story.
Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and on a high-performing team. Capable of managing and meeting multiple, overlapping deadlines.
Outstanding writing (with an emphasis on AP style), editing and presentation skills, with an ability to adapt messaging and content for a variety of audiences.
Day-to-day budget and vendor management experience, including multiple agencies and subcontractors.
Adept in MS Office Suite (PPT, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams) with ability to quickly learn other applications, as needed.
Experience with AI-based tools to work more efficiently and creatively.
