The SVP, Media Director oversees the agency’s media team and leads Associate Media Directors along with their assigned planners and assistants. The ideal person must have experience working with clients in the Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality industry within an Advertising/Marketing Agency, and must be available to work in either our Tallahassee, Florida or Fort Lauderdale, FL offices.

Responsibilities

Direct the activities of the Director(s), manage the team(s) in the development and implementation of national, regional and local traditional media campaigns that will include most or all the following for our Clients.

Work as part of a media planning and buying group, identify, formulate, and manage the application of media solutions to overall client objectives

Manage clients’ expectations at the Director and above levels (CMO, President), clearly communicate integrated media strategies to clients including creating and presenting full media presentations

Work with Interactive media team senior leadership defining integration approaches of traditional and digital media(s).

Client Partner: Serve as primary day-to-day contact; lead weekly status calls, develop briefs, understand the client’s business, capture project requirements, and protectively manage client needs.

Integrated Execution: Coordinate media, creative, PR, social, and production to deliver omnichannel campaigns (search, social, programmatic, video, OOH/DOOH, content).

Destination Focus: Support feeder-market strategy, seasonality planning, and partner activations (tourism boards, attractions, events); balance direct vs. OTA considerations.

Identify, develop, present, implement and optimize traditional media plans, strategies and tactics.

Manage the traditional media campaign process for assigned clients in tandem with the Interactive media team

Work with the senior Buying team management to define and develop optimal media buys, monitoring, post-promotional reporting and other post-buy analyses

Manage ongoing monitoring of media campaigns, delivering periodic campaign performance meetings internally and reporting results to client(s)

Develop POVs as needed in response to client needs or requests

Review decks and plans from other planning staff to be “client ready”

Qualifications

15+ years integrated media planning experience including VP and/or Group Media Director (GMD) level

Experience working with clients in the Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality industry, preferably destinations/DMOs, within an Advertising/Marketing Agency is required

Must have a combination of Media and Account Management, Client Services experience within an Advertising/Marketing Agency

Excellent presentation and writing skills

Proven ability to conceive and develop quality, well-conceived and successful media plans

Experience directly leading and managing a staff

Experience managing and coordinating inter-departmental efforts at the director and/or senior level

Experience negotiating short and long-term contracts with vendors

MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Keynote preferred)

Experience with most of the following media planning tools: TNS, Scarborough, Media Monitors, Nielsen, Arbitron, Tactician, Strata and Simmons

A four year college degree or equivalent in Business, Communications, Marketing background

Understanding of all forms of media avenue
