We believe every nonprofit, regardless of its size or budget, should have access to appropriate technology, reliable information, and practical knowledge that improves decision-making, service delivery, and organizational sustainability.
Opportunity Description
Lean Impact Alliance is looking for a Web Design & Implementation Volunteer to help turn completed website reviews into real, live improvements for our nonprofit partners. This is a hands-on, beginner-friendly role — perfect for anyone building a UI/UX or web design portfolio and looking for real project experience.
You'll take recommendations from our team's website assessments and help design and build the actual fixes: better layouts, clearer navigation, improved visual design, and mobile-friendly pages. No professional experience is required — we'll guide you.
This is a founding volunteer opportunity with the ability to help shape how Lean Impact Alliance turns website research into real, live results for our nonprofit partners.
Responsibilities
Turn completed website assessment recommendations into real design updates
Improve page layout, navigation, and visual design
Help make websites easier to use on mobile devices
Work on live websites for real nonprofit partners (and our own site)
Share drafts and progress with the team for feedback
The volunteer will not publish final changes independently or make binding design decisions on behalf of Lean Impact Alliance without team review.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in web design, UI/UX, or front-end development — beginners welcome
No professional experience required; student or personal projects count
Familiarity with tools like Figma, WordPress, or basic HTML/CSS is a plus, not required
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and follow a shared style guide
Attention to detail and clear communication
What the Volunteer Will Gain
Real, live projects for your design/development portfolio
Hands-on mentorship
Experience turning research and recommendations into an actual build
Professional references based on successful completion of agreed responsibilities
Recognition for contributions to Lean Impact Alliance's charitable mission
International Students
International students are welcome to apply. This is a genuine, unpaid volunteer opportunity supporting Lean Impact Alliance's charitable and educational mission. It does not include wages, employee benefits, immigration sponsorship, or a promise of future employment.
Immigration requirements depend on the student's status, academic program, school policies, assigned responsibilities, and whether the experience is intended to qualify as CPT, OPT, academic credit, or another authorized practical experience.
Before beginning, international students must consult their school's Designated School Official or a qualified immigration advisor and obtain any required authorization. Lean Impact Alliance cannot provide immigration advice, guarantee eligibility for academic credit or practical training, or sponsor employment authorization or a visa.
Compensation
This is an unpaid volunteer position. No wages, stipend, employee benefits, visa sponsorship, or promise of future employment are provided. Any reimbursement is limited to documented expenses that were approved in writing before they were incurred.
