Wall Street Journal Custom Content is part of The Wall Street Journal | Barron’s Group advertising department and executes bespoke content and video programs for the digital and print editions of The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch. Our diverse group is made up of editors, designers, video producers, developers, account managers, and content strategists who work together to create award-winning campaigns for our clients.
About the Role:

The Associate Editor will support The Trust’s Editorial Team, providing assistance to and collaborating with the managing, executive, and senior editors on a daily basis. They will be copy editing and quality assuring best-in-class custom and supplied branded content across digital and print, with opportunities to write meaningful, compelling copy for social media and advertising units.
The role will include creating, standardizing, and maintaining editorial standards, processes, and tasks. They will also work closely with a cross-functional team of editors, client success managers, social strategists, developers, and designers, as well as clients, as needed, to manage the timely execution of deliverables for custom and supplied content products across multiple verticals, including finance, technology, B2C, B2B, healthcare, government, real estate, and luxury.
They will be responsible for copy editing and QAing video and audio content, as well as overhauling and implementing new processes for both. In addition to regularly writing social distribution copy for clients, they will also have the opportunity to work as writer or project editor for a variety of our client partners, as well.
The ideal candidate is highly proficient at copy editing and proofreading, with excellent, versatile writing skills (short-form, long-form, and headline writing), plus laser-focused detail orientation for quality assurance. They are comfortable juggling multiple projects and working under strict deadlines. Candidates should have strong organizational skills and knowledge of AP Style. Creativity and flexibility to communicate advertisers\' objectives to the WSJ audience in a fresh, organic way is a must.
You Will:

Copy editing of all supplied content as well as select custom programs for accuracy, grammar, syntax, and style

Quality assurance across digital, print, and video deliverables

Craft impactful social media and advertising copy

Coordinate across teams to update copy edit and QA processes and best practices for video and audio content for all verticals

Revise current WSJCC deliverables and social distribution doc with all pertinent and new information

Write, edit, and proofread internal marketing requests (e.g., newsletters, invitations, ads, etc.)

Verify sources and perform independent research for fact-checking, as applicable

Work with account managers, writers, and editors to assure that content meets quality standards and is delivered on time

Upload content into CMS for various supplied and custom programs

You Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or related field

1-3 years of writing and editing experience in a branded, editorial, publishing, or copywriting capacity (branded content experience preferred)

Superior proofreading skills and impeccable attention to detail

Knowledge of AP Style

Excellent writing and editing skills

Familiarity with finance, technology, finance or business journalism is helpful but not required

Other topics covered in our content include healthcare, government, logistics, luxury consumer, real estate, B2B, B2C, etc.

Flexibility to adapt voice and tone based on WSJCC style as well as client needs

Ability to juggle multiple projects

Experience working under hard deadlines

Strong organizational skills

Outstanding computer skills a must (including Google Suite and MS Office)

Familiarity with project management platforms (including Basecamp, Wrike, and Asana) a plus

Knowledge of digital tools and content management systems, including Wordpress and Ceros, is helpful but not required
